I am sick. Woke up with a sore throat on Sunday. I often get a scratchy throat in hotels, so didnt think much about it. But it just keeps getting worse and now my voice is almost totally gone. I feel okay as long as I dont swallow. Resting at resort now before the party tonight. It makes me mad because I am constantly washing my hands, using hand sanitizer and not touching any handrails. DH touches everything and refuses hand sanitizer, but I am the sick one. But besides that, trip is going well. We are touring way more like turtles than commando, but it is working for us.

Definitely take him up on the cruise ... they're magical, just go for more than 3 nights. After this cruise, DH said it was great for what we were trying to accomplish, but never again shorter than a 5 nighter. Now I'm kinda sad we missed Coral Reef since you liked it so much, but DH was starting to complain about all the money we were spending in restaurants and I don't like fish, plus we were super tired and ended up going to Universal for free the day of the ADR. In the end we came in almost exactly on budget for food and souvenirs, so it was probably for the best.

We loved Fantasyland and BOG, too. I haven't been there in years past but the resorts we went to see just overwhelmed us with the classy Xmas decorations: GF, the Beach Club Carousel, and the WL decorations were all stunning. Loved the giant mickey head outline on the Contemporary, though the gingerbread there was meh.


I liked BLT for reasons not having to do with the MK even. (Other than the view.) Having the monorail was great, the parking was so easy, and the two bathrooms in a 1 bedroom I'm finding a necessity .... going to one in a BW 1 bdr was just painful, though we liked almost everything else about that resort. Loved the ease of using our refillable mugs at the Contemporary. After this trip I don't think I'd consider any of the not-new resorts (the ones w/o the extra baths), so it'd be between AK and BLT for me, and BLT dues are still much nicer and the location would tip the scales. Though we didn't get to see AKL and I'm hoping to stay there on the off chance I can talk DH into a shorter trip before our APs expire. I'm hoping once the GF is built, some people will start letting their BLT contracts go for a little less than right now ... $90/pt is too much, but once it gets down to the $60's or $70's and we have some cash lined up, I'll start thinking about it.


Yay! The phone app is great I just hate typing on my phone now that I don't have a qwerty anymore.!

I think our first cruise WDW split stay will probably be at least 2 years from now and most likely a 3-4 night cruise. DH can usually only take 1 week at a time off, we usually try to tack on a personal day on the beginning....

Coral Reef was great, it could have all been pixie dust though - sometimes things just worked out, we all had seafood and thought it was done well, I don't know if it was the BW bakery cake that we had that made everything line up right but it was great. CRT and Coral Reef were our family favorites for great all around meals.

We won't add on until we move and get re-settled. I guess it depends on how many points we are looking for too. And if we want to do WDW multiple times a year. We want to try all DVC resorts but would buy at BW, AK, OKW or BLT if resale comes down some....

The ticker doesn't recognize your trip as being over, it is counting down to the date you left but in 2013 instead of 2012. You will have to go to "edit my signature" and delete the ticker. Or start a new one for your next trip

Thank you! Will go try that right now and start a new ticker (if I can remember how I did it!!) for our next trip!!

Ok, now I'm really . We got back on 12/8, so all of our photos are already up - all 156 plus the bonus pictures. Why would we need to order another CD?

We did the PhotoPass Plus too. When DH ordered it for me before we left, it came in the mail with a bonus CD with 400 cool stock photos, plus the redemption code. When we got home, it took longer than I thought for the photos we had taken to appear. When they did appear in our account, we chose the digital download rather than ordering a CD. Well - the photos didn't show in the download menu, and didn't show - so I called and was told they were very busy. When they finally showed, the download process went without a hitch. But overall to a first-time user, it was rather confusing.

For the first 6 days+ of our trip, the forcast said rain or thunderstorms.

We saw maybe 45 min of rain over that entire period..and only one real decent cloudburst (Wed).

Florida weather "lies". Frequently.

How would you order them for prints, etc?

You'll have to either download them or get them on CD..after any edits you decide to do.

Otherwise, they expire (disappear off the site) 30 days after you entered your photopass into the site.

When you click on a picture, you can see when it "expires".

We were at the GF that night...and needed to get to the Poly for Ohana's. Took the walkway...which was actually a nice walk (we didn't even know it was there!).

Can't remember which night it was...Monday the 10th,maybe?

We took the monorail from the Contemporary to MK, because our youngest loves trains, on 12/9 around 10-10:30 then when we tried to take it to Epcot that evening it was broken. First they told us 5-10 minutes so we waited then they old us to take the bus to TTC where they said it had been down all day but it was running late morning. Bummer it was down because our youngest lived it!

And we're planning on Jan 2014 as well. Hoping to go for oldest DS's birthday if he can get his act together.

Oh no!! Poor you hun, hope its nothing too serious. Honey & hot water is so good for sore throats and honey has a lot of healing properties. I wonder if you could get some in the food court, you know where the jelly/butter that kind of stuff is Go look if you can.

For future reference - and I hate to be the serious one - only ever use sanitizer in an absolute emergency i.e. there is no water for miles. It is a proven fact that copious amounts of plain water gets rid of more germs than sanitizer does, add soap and thats even better. One germ that no sanitzer can get rid of (and one of the most common ones) is Norovirus - the infamous stomach bug. Not to mention what it does to your skin ....

SORRY!!! Off my soap box now - sanitizers are a pet peeve of mine. It is on my DD's records at school not to go within a mile of her with hand sanitizer

I am def in that Disney funk. Feels so weird to not check for ADRs and tweek plans. WAHHHHHH It all went so fast.

And because I was so focused on Disney, I am now stressing over Christmas and finishing my shopping. I haven't wrapped ANYTHING!!

I'm in exactly the same boat! Thank goodness for my Dad - he is a shopper, we call him Roboshop. The thing he loves to shop for most is kids stuff and collectibles. He went out on Saturday and came back with a car full, got everything on DDs list and more so I just had to give him some money. Its like having my own personal shopper I won't even begin to tell you how many ornaments & pins he bought in Disney My Mum regularly has to ban him from spending

I could have used his help!! Granted I do most of my shopping online - I still need to go and do a little in a box store. Like target, got very pretty ornaments for DD3s pre k teachers and aides, and their wrapping paper is so much prettier to me than wal marts. We drove to Boston to finish our shopping in Sunday. Not fun : / however ikea is awesome

I miss Disney too it was soooo much fun.

Well, I just got an email from Alamo and curiosity got the best of me, so I clicked it and saved $60 on my car rental. (The other rental was with Dollar which made me a little nervous, anyway). Looks like the rates have really dropped now that I'm less than a week out, so if you haven't left yet, might want to take a look at your car rental ressie. I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

You and my sister think alike. Her first words when she learned about the GF DVC were "good, BLT resale points should go down once it's open!" If the points get down in the $70 range we'd definitely pick up a small contract, but the $90 it is right now is just too much with some I the older resorts going for around $55 per point.

and another one bites the dust.... and another one.....now the youngest has the cough as well as dh. Only ones left are me and my 8 year old. It's nothing more than a hacking cough but still.....it's no fun. Not how I wanted to spend my last two days! I still need to finish packing. I have most everything layed out, just need to get it into suitcases. I put the sewing machines away last night and now I have a kitchen table again. All shirts are sewn and I just have to wash out the tie dye shirts this evening and pack them all up in their bags. I'll take pics before I pack them up. 2 days!!!! I can't wait! Oh, and my inlaws are on their way here! yeah!!! They left yesterday and should be here this evening. The girls don't yet. They are going to be surprised when they show up a day early.

Im probably going to regret this but Im leaving everything until Friday since Im off. I have a long list of stuff to do that day already.

The weather is looking good for this weekend. I wasnt planning on packing/bringing a jacket but looks like I may have to. Time to move up to the bigger suitcase now. Plus we found out we have to do a formal brunch out with the family Christmas Day which means packing a dressier outfit and dress shoes.

Im starting my usually intake of Echinacea today, to boost up the immune system. I have a tendecy to pick up colds while we travel.

Phew! Well, I'm kinda of in this really weird place at the moment. Just been immersed in the most magical world for a week totally shut off from the outside world .... now I am sitting at home, everything is exactly the same as I left it, like time had stopped .... the room is silent and all I can hear is the tick tock of the clock .... I feel almost like Alice in Wonderland *sigh*

Anyway, I need to put together some kind of trip report when my head is ready but for now, if you have any questions just ask! I stayed at POR Royal Guest room; delux dining plan; ate at CRT, BOG, LLT, Peco Bills, Hollywood Brown Derby, 50's Prime Time, R&C, Biergarten, Via Napoli, Tucker House; Saw the Gingerbread House and found that the GF is a resort I would definitely not stay at; did MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, Osbourne Lights & La Nouba so ask away about any of the above
