Recap:
Me, DH, DD 8, DS 6. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge Villas from 12/19-12/22.
I will use my standard rating system:
10- everything perfect...food, service, atmosphere (very rare)
9- excellent, almost perfect
7-8- very good, overall great experience
5-6- mediocre, might not return
3-4- bad, not returning
1-2- should close this place down!!!
After breakfast at Whispering Canyon, we spent the day at MGM studios. We had a "fantasmic" time, especially the stars and motorcars parade, which we haven't yet seen. We then went back to the lodge, rested, showered and went to the Le Cellier for our candlelight dinner package.
12/20, dinner at Le Cellier
Weve been here a number of times already and I'd like to say we tried something different than what we normally order, but we didn't really. I am hesitant sometimes to try a new dish at a place when I've found a dish I really LOVE. With the CP package we are allowed an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Drinks are extra. I had my usual cheddar cheese soup which accompanies the pretzel breadsticks (the soft kind) they bring to the table nicely. They also bring out sour dough breadsticks and multi-grain. All are good. DH had mussels in a tomato broth that were also good. Nice plump juicy ones, but not as good as the ones he had a Calif. Grille this past July. We both ordered our favorite mushroom filet. For those of you who have not had it it is heaven on Earth. It is a perfect, tender filet mignon served over creamy wild mushroom risotto with white truffle oil and crisy fried leeks on top...It was the best one we've had so far. DH also had a side lobster tail for an additional $10 charge (isn't gluttony a sin?). The kids had grilled chicken and fries, only because I refused to let them have chicken fingers every meal.
I was stuffed by dessert, so I ordered off the kids menu only because it was included in the price of our cp package. I had the chocolate mousse which was really a MOOSE with cookie ears and such. Very cute...DS had the same. DD had the smores which are nicely presented (she had this in July as well). DH had the espresso cheescake which was pretty good. Service was excellent.
The only downside to the evening is that "reserved" seating for the Candlelight Processional only means "guaranteed seating" beacuse they "reserve" 850 seats out of the 2000 the ampitheatre holds (and many of THOSE seats went to family of the performers. We thought it would be more like the fantasmic show where they reserve a whole section for dinner package guests. To our surprise there was an extensive line formed when we arrived. Just an FYI...
We did enjoy the concert however!!!
Overall rating for Le Cellier, 8 1/2. Very good food, will certainly be back.
