Quick question for my fellow DISers: is the 8pm time for the stargazing meet on Wednesday night convenient for everyone that wanted to attend? My contact with DCL pointed out that at 8pm, the late dinner seating and the second stage show would still be in progress. If there are people who want to go to the stargazing meet but would otherwise miss it because of dinner or the show, could you let me know? Maybe we could push back the time if it is going to be an issue. I told my DCL contact I would ask if 8pm is going to be a problem. Thanks!

The results are in! The Bushwacker Challenge is complete and (now that I've recovered ) I can announce the winning recipe.

First, in the spirit of full disclosure, I don't do coconut in any form. Since all three recipes that I experimented with called for coconut in one form or another (creme of coconut, pina colada mix - 1 part pineapple/2 parts coconut, or coconut rum) I left out the coconut part in each (but not the pineapple or rum parts).

So, straight from Paradise Point in St. Thomas, here's the winning recipe:

2 oz. coconut rum (here's where I varied the recipe and used Mount Gay Eclipse Silver rum instead)
6 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
4 oz. Amaretto
4 oz. Kahlua
2 oz. vodka

Stir and pour over ~4 cups ice in a blender and blend until it's like a smoothie
(optional) Top with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg

Serves 4 - enjoy!

While we love the Bushwackers on the Magic this recipe looks way easier to make at home! Thanks for taking on this challenge and seeing it through to the end!

Another question for my fellow Parleyers! I posted this in another older DCL thread and figured I'd post it here, too, to get feedback from y'all. We're very excited for pirate night on the cruise. Everyone in the two groups we're traveling with is bringing along pirate costumes. Me, being completely obsessive, I'm going full-tilt on a Jack Sparrow costume, making my own wig even. Just wanted to know from all you previous cruisers, what is the guest participation level on pirate night? Are most people just casually pirated up (i.e. t-shirts and an eye patch), or do lots of people really get into it with their costumes? Am I going to feel like a complete geek and a total standout if I come to dinner dressed in my full-on Jack Sparrow garb?

We aren't doing full-on pirate garb, partly because of the luggage restrictions travelling from the UK. You will see varying levels of participation, I think it's fair to say. The characters will all be in their pirate outfits though

I would really like to go the your stargazing meet and I have late dinner. 9 PM would really be much better for me, but I will go with what the group says (it's not like I'm going to starve).

You will stand out, but in a good way There are lots of people who get really decked out for Pirate Night and I know I enjoy seeing them. A few years ago, I saw a women dressed as Elizabeth Swann in the complete oriental costume - it looked very professional.

I believe Nancy has a fabulous picture of her whole family dressed up for Pirate Night. You guys might want to consider doing a group portrait. Captain Jack will be milling around all night and Mickey will be in his be in his pirate gear as well.

We also have late dinner seating and would miss an 8:00 stargazing meet. We would probably love to attend if it was after dinner.

Later would be better for my family, as we would likely be in the show at 8pm. But I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. If we have to miss it, we will.

I would really like to go the your stargazing meet and I have late dinner. 9 PM would really be much better for me, but I will go with what the group says (it's not like I'm going to starve).

I'm surprised the time issue had not been brought up before. We've never been on a Disney cruise before. So we have no idea what time everything is on the ship. I think (I hope) the 8pm time slot was more of a placeholder than a set time. We just needed to put something on the list of Parley Meets so people can start planning around them. If a later time would work better for everyone, then I'm all for pushing it back. My only concern with pushing back the time is for those parents with young ones who may or may not be able to make the stargazing meet if their kids' bedtimes are an issue. But what the hey! It's vacation! Bedtimes don't apply on vacation, right?!?!

The only reason I thought to ask about the time was because the DCL group specialist I've been in contact with asked me if the 8pm time was going to prevent others in our group from making it to the event. So, I have to thank her for bringing that up.

What time does the late seating and the second stage show usually let out? Would 9pm be late enough or should it be even later than that? I have no knowledge of such things. So I will leave it up to you other experience DCL cruisers.

BTW, if DCL is able to accommodate a couple of my requests, the stargazing meet should be pretty sweet! I'm trying to get them to turn off or at least dim the lights in the immediate vicinity of the stargazing meet. Being out in the middle of the sea and the new moon having already set below the horizon by sunset, the night skies should be perfectly black. However, those cruise ships are lit up like the Vegas strip at night. So, I'm trying to find out what the best location on the top decks will be for our meet and if they can turn off the lights in that area.

Also, I'm verifying that I will be allowed to use my GLP for the presentation. If yes, that should be quite a sight to see in such a very, very dark sky. It may end up drawing a larger crowd than our original Parley group, which is fine with me as I enjoy sharing our night skies with anyone who is interested!

Just remember to pack a pair of binoculars if you can afford the extra room and weight. The presentation will be geared more to naked eye observing, but if you have binos, you will be able to see some pretty spectacular stuff!!!
