as for Tinks question...Maelstrom sounds about right....but I'll take another guess that it has something to do with outer space...and since it is in the past tense...I'll bet the attraction isn't there anymore....so it can't have anything to do with Misison:Space (when is that going to open anyway???)

So...with that in mind...I will either guess the World of Motion or Horizons....

Pirates opened on December 15, 1973 and the PeopleMover (we still call it that) opened on July 1, 1975.

Lisa - according to my 1974 WDW Guide Map it was called the Columbia Harbour House.
