We're currently at Bay Lake Tower, and considering renting a car from the car care center for a day so we can get groceries... from a local store at non Disney prices . Can we park at AK for free since we're staying on grounds? Do we need anything from BLT to show that we're staying on grounds. Anyone have an idea of how much a cab would cost from BLT to car center. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

BLT should be able to give you a parking tag to put in your car. then you can park for free at the parks, yes.

A free shuttle to/from the car care is available, so no need to pay for a taxi.

Complimentary shuttle service from select Walt Disney World Resort hotels to the Disney Car Care Center can be arranged by calling (407) 824-3470 ext. 1. Guests must schedule a pickup time prior and be waiting at the pickup location at the appointed time. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact the Car Care Center to reschedule.

Even though you're not getting the car until later in your trip, ask for your parking pass when you check in. That will save you a trip down later. All you need to do is put it on your dashboard and they'll wave you through the parking kiosks at the theme parks.

Do some price comparisons. The Car Care Center isn't your only option. There's also a Hertz location inside Shades of Green and multiple options near Downtown Disney. Most will pick you up and drop you off for free.
