Parking question

How many people going to Disney have young children? And yes, young children are an extra hardship, but for everyone not just your family! Any one who is using or considering using the resort parking lots for use of the park, please re-consider. If you yourself say it is "less than honest", what are you teaching your children? I thought along the same lines until we got stopped at the gate and they asked what our business was, and my husband replied "breakfast at Chef Mickey's". Then they asked for our P/S. My son sitting in the back seat knew what we were doing and I felt so awful. People can justify or rationalize anything away. If you have to justify or rationalize your actions, you know they are wrong. It might be overlooked during non busy times, but if enough people at the Contemporary, the GF, the Poly, DTD complain, they will find a way to stop this practice anyway, and the way of stopping people might inconvenience a great many people. If it was okay to pay a little extra for valet parking and use the resort lots for MK parking, they would have a section for on site guests who want to pay a little extra for parking. And when it does come to that, they will charge more, and the lot will be crowded. Please re-think this.

There have been a few times we have not been able to even enter the Cont parking lot at the security check without a PS number. (Both times I was just wanting to run into buy a pin at the pin cart and still was not allowed to do that.)
And this has not always happened at busy season. Sometimes if they happen to get a special group in a resort, security cracks down.
We experienced this once also at the Beach Club.
And security gate CMs are just like the bag searching CMs. Some are strict. Some barely speak and wave guests in.

And parking in handicapped and AAA Diamond I think could be a pain. Trams do not stop at these parking areas. And I don't know that everyone is aware of this.
We were at MGM last night. You should have seen the evil looks a small group of guests were glaring as the tram went right by them at the handicapped/AAA parking area.

I really think it is better and easier to park in the general lot and walk or ride a tram in. No three hour limit, you can park hop, leave it, go, whatever. One less thing to think about while enjoying the parks.
I feel like my car is more secure in a park parking lot too, rather than a resort parking lot. (Just because of the constant foot traffic and security driving around.) That could be a misconception on my part though.

I know of those who park at Cont to go into MK. I don't look at that as a convenience though, even when trying to justify to meet personal needs.

There have been times we have eaten at Kona Cafe, and run into MK to buy (ahem) a pin  I think one time we were at the three hours on the nose.
And I can't say I have ever seen anyone towed from a parking lot. Not to say they can't and don't. But I have never seen this happen.

To me it is just easier to park where we should and enjoy quality park time.

they are starting to ask people at the gate what they are there for. And if you say breakfast or shopping or whatever, you get a 3 hour pass
We were there last night. They did not ask what we were there for and they did not give us a 3 hour pass like they had done in the past.

Sometimes they do. Sometimes not. (On the three hour limit.) We park at the Poly more than the Cont. (We eat at Kona. About the only time I go into the Cont is to buy a pin. ;) And I don't buy there often.)

I will add that not being asked why you were entering is a rarity. I cannot recall trying to enter any resort through security check point and not being asked.

Only making conversation here to compare notes. Not saying what is right/wrong.

I asked DH his thoughts. He said the only resort he recalls be given a three hour pass is the Poly.
When we drive up to any resort check point, we have our FL dr lic displayed, and we tell them why we are there. (Either to eat or shop -- or both)
Sometimes they beat us and ask if we are checking in.

All resorts will write down info. Many write down the car tag number, often the driver's name also. They at least write down the date/time entered and the name.

We were at Pop last night (surprise pin  ). Even there the security guard wrote down our car tag and name. They always include the time.

I would guess if they ever really needed to make an issue, they would fall back onto this info.

I dont think it is really a moral issue here. I guess my "less than honest" remark turned on your moral meter and got you on a soapbox. My kids will not be learn a bad lesson by me using Valet parking at a MK hotel, instead of parking in the regular lot. They learn the best lesson i can teach them. money is good and can be used to make your life, or trip to the MK, better. :cheer2: MONEY To me, as a on site guest of WDW, I am allowed to use any service that I am willing or able to pay for.

If you go to Disney, like I go to Disney, you know that the place is about special memories and family fun....but for a price. The mouse loves money, I love to give the mouse my money, just look at my Disney Credit Card, my spending along with yours is good for my all my DD's stock. So in the finest Disney tradition, I PAY for a service at CR, Poly, or GF just like I would if I used valet at DTD. True DTD is not the MK, but the service is the same...really better at CR than DTD or GF.

I do believe that Disney will start a charging for better parking in the near future...why...because Sea World is now offering better parking for a few extra dollars. We used that too...it was very nice.

All the parks follow one another in revenue generating programs, so i doubt it will be long before wdw has the same service. Later in the week I even mentioned how great the new parking area was at Sea World to one of the survey guys at MGM.

I think the "less than honest" remark just states what you believe. You are being less than honest, and admit it. Seems like an oxymoron there. You are stating I am honest about not being quite honest. :rotfl:

I know others that do similar. I have even beat it into my own DH's head not to park at a resort and go to a park. :badpc: ;)

I don't do it. I won't say I will NEVER do it. And I don't imagine anyone cares. Just as I don't care if they do it. Not my business. That's between them and Disney. :magnify: And I do not think less of anyone who does do this. There are much worse things in life to worry about.
