parking question

we have a reservation for a character breakfast at the Polynesian, we will be arriving by car as we are staying in Kissimmee. once we park there can we just get on the monorail and leave our cars there for the day. We have done it in the past without problems, but I heard they are now tracking parked cars. Most people staying there don't come by car and the lot is big, do you think we can get away with that?

No you cannot leave your car at the Poly and go to the park for the day. You can though park at the TTC and take the monorail to the Poly and then monorail over to MK when your breakfast is done.

You will be allowed to park there, but generally the person at the gate will ask why you are there and will issue you a 3 hour pass. You will not be able to just leave your car there all day.

if you want to, you can just say you are going to Poly, then park in the main parking and ride the monorail to the poly... effectively parking all day in the lots..

It is true that you'll be told that there is a 3 hour limit. We've done this in various resorts in the past, usually, but not always for dining. Sometimes we'll just tell them that we are exploring the resort and are considering staying in the future (all of which has been true). We sometimes receive a pass, sometimes not. Sometimes we are told about the 3 hr limit, other times not. While they probably tend to be a bit more strict at the monorail resorts, we've never had a problem, nor have I ever seen, nor heard of anyone being towed. For peace of mind, you may simply choose to park @ TTC lot & walk to Poly, otherwise you could chance it.

Trying to cheat Disney out of $15 is wrong, and asking if you can get around Disney policy is against the rules on the boards. Any time you say can I get by with this, you should take it somewhere else.

If one of the adults in your party has an AP, you can park for free at the theme parks.

Yes, just tell them @ the TTC tollbooth that you are dining @ Poly then pay valet @ Poly and leave the car all day.

Technically, you cannot use valet parking to visit the theme parks. You have the same sign at the entrance to the resort that says the resort cannot provide theme park parking. The valets will tell you sure, but they are just looking for a tip.

Since the valets are WDW employees, and they say it's ok, that would be enough for me. You may also keep your valet receipt and use it at any other Deluxe resort valet station for the rest of the day. I would certainly not feel guilty about using this service for parking for the Parks.

I have gotten positive responses at the resorts I checked with..about paying to valet park and then leaving for the day. I was told at the CR, Polynesian, and BW, that is fine. I asked at both the valet desk and at the front desk.

The valet workers aren't WDW employees anymore..at least that's what I have been told. But, if they say it's okay, then where's the issue. The valet lots are seldom close to full, especially now that DVC doesn't get free valet services.

Why make a big deal out of this? I will choose to believe the WDW-employed representative with whom I am dealing on a face to face basis. Should you choose not to, that's fine with me.

Valet is most definitely not run by WDW cast members, they're operating partners (like many of the restaurants on property).

Anyways, the OP has gotten their answer. One should not park at a resort to visit a park, unless it is the resort at which they are staying. It's not only unfair to paying guests of the resort who cannot find parking (Boardwalk, for one, is notorious for its limited parking) but it's dishonest to avoid paying the parking fee. As PP said, it's best to just park at TTC and ride the monorail around.

Keep in mind though..it is going to cost you more, in the end, to valet park. The valet CM is going to expect a tip when he takes your car and then the CM that returns your car to you will also expect one.

This is a great point.

And if you decide not to valet park and still park at a resort that is not the one you are staying at, realize you are taking a chance that your car will be missing when you go back for it. And impound fees are not cheap!

if you are stingy, once you get the car, you don't HAVE to tip.
