I thought free parking at theme parks is one of DVC perks, even if members were not staying on-site.
My wife was in Orlando for a conference last week and she stayed offsites with her group. No biggie for her, she had a nice accommodations :p
Anyway, she visited MK and MGM during her down time and were told both times that she had to pay for parking if she was not staying on-site as DVC members. She showed them the blue membership card and a photo ID but to no avail. Is this correct?

Yes, that's correct. Free parking is not a DVC perk -- it is an on-site resort guest perk, that is extended to on-site DVC guests.

In fact, free theme park parking has never been a DVC member perk. We get free theme park parking when staying onsite, just as all onsite WDW resort guests get free theme park parking. But that has nothing to do with DVC membership.

The valet parking fee is waived for DVC members showing the blue card at BCV, BWV, and VWL, regardless of where we are staying. (Of course, it's still appropriate to tip.)

Thanks, I did not know that. I know on-site gets free parking, but I thought just showing your DVC card got you free parking. Nice to know in case we stay off-site.

I stand corrected. Thank you for your replies. Now, where did I get the idea that theme park parking was a regular DVC perk :p
