parking lot hours

We want to do the TSM dash at Hollywood Studios at rope drop. We're staying at CBR. Should we ride the bus and try to get there before opening at 9:00 or should we drive our own car? I know we don't have to worry about waiting for a bus if we drive but I didn't know how early the parking lot would be open. We've always stayed in a WDW resort and used transportation even though we always have our car. We've never parked anywhere at WDW other than our resort.

The parking lots are open plenty early. We usually arrive at DHS at least 45 minutes before park opening. You won't have any problem if you choose to do that.

Thanks! We like using WDW transportation but waiting for the bus for Hollywood Studios when we're trying to get there super early can be very frustrating. I think that day we'll drive and be in control of our own time.

You can sleep an extra 1/2 hour or 45 minutes if you drive. I'd drive.

There have been reports on the Theme Parks board that DHS has been opening as much as 30 minutes ahead of the announced time, so you should plan to arrive 45 minutes before announced opening if you want to be truly among the first in.
