parking at the disney resorts

Disney resort pools are for resort guest only. Disney has been know to ask to see a room key for folks in the pool. They are trying to cut down on non resort people using the pools. I saw a couple families kicked out of the VWL pools. One was asked to produce a room key and they stated that their son left his in the room. The CM made the kid go and get the card.

I am staying offsite and renting a car, I have a friend who is staying at Contemporary and I want to spend the day at the pool with her, is that allowed?

goofy4tink i have another thread here about what you said about "valet" parking. i am NOT talking about free parking. if i have a dinner at a resort and valet park can i then take the monorail to the MK and leave the car. specifically poly(breakfast) and GF(dinner). otherwise i'd park at TTC and walk to poly and mono to GF.

I do it. We frequently go to the Beach Club for lunch at Beaches and Cream, then walk to EPCOT. I have no regrets. If Disney didn't want me to park at resorts, then they should not have so many delicious food options at them. It is crazy to think when I am not staying on property, that I would move my car, when it is a short walk away.

Now, I never just park at a resort to avoid fee's. That's what the Fantasia mini golf lot is for.

People need to worry about themselves and not try and police the world. My conscious is 100% clear.

But it really shouldn't be. As someone who has stayed at the Beach Club, I know what a p.i.t.a it can be for paying resort guests to find parking. As a Disney resort guest you are allowed to park for free at any theme park OR YOUR OWN RESORT. It is not a park anywhere you want pass.

Maybe if more people had a conscience that pricked them, and if we didn't end up inconvenienced because of it, the rest of us wouldn't be made to "police the world".

Absolutely!! If you are valet parking, you are not taking a spot from a person who is paying to stay at that resort. When you park in 'self parking' all day (after having breakfast for instance) and then head to a park, you are taking a spot from a paying resort guest. Valet parking is always the way to go.

Really? If you're heading to Epcot anyway, why not just park in the Epcot lot?? Please don't justify parking at a resort for hours on end because you are eating at one of the 'delicious food options'. You are allowed to park at a resort while you are enjoying that resort's amenities. Which you are doing when eating lunch at Beaches and Cream. But then heading to Epcot?? Yes, youi actually kind of are expected to move your car..you are no longer enjoying the amenities at BC.
Your conscious may be 100% clear, but that doesn't make you 100% right.
As I stated quite awhile back (in February on this thread!!!)...Disney truly doesn't care. But be careful....they may start instituting parking fees at resorts when guests start complaining consistently. You will get free parking with a validated parking ticket, but not for more than 3 hrs of parking time.
As I said before...Disney can change it's policies. There is a reason that
Disney quite often puts out signage that says parking for park access is not permitted. How do you get around that signage when it's up???

Policing?? Nope not me. But it sure does frost me when I have to drive around and around at BW to find a parking spot, and then watch the line of cars pulling out of that lot about 20 mins after IllumiNations!!!

This subject has been done to death. I stated the policy back on the first page. If anyone wishes to,they can review that post.

While that maybe true and I am not debating it everyone who does this should remember during the major holidays like Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Years, they are more strict for valet parking and would enforce the 3 hour limit.

Plus it was just announced during the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot that the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club will be asking for Key To The World cards from guests who are staying there before they are let in and guests with confirmed ADR's will need to show proof of it before they are allowed in. So I wouldn't be surprised if they are also more strict about valet parking during that time.

valet parking takes a resort guest place just as much as a normal parker. people still valet when they stay at the resort.

PLease go back and read post number 6..I think I prettty much covered that issue.

Not true. If valet parking is going to be crowded, you won't be allowed to use it. The valet people know full well when demand is going to be high. And believe me....now that DVCers have to pay for valet parking, the valet lots are not full to overflowing the vast majority of the time. In fact, the valet lots are seldom even close to capacity.

I have to chime in. I usually stay away from threads like this, BUT..I stay off-site & always have ADR's at the GF. I always valet, I have asked the Valet(s) attendant(s) if it is OK to go to the park after my ADR. The answer I have ALWAYS got is, yes sir, you may, you pay for the spot, take as long as you like. I always ask first out of courtesy and respect for the Hotel & its guest, but at that point I am being treated just as I should be , as a paying guest.

Also, I have always had to provide my ADR Confirmation # and last name at the Gate prior to entering the GF. Which is fine with me. I expected it the 1st time I had one.

seriously???????????!!!!!
parking was pretty bad at the BW last F&G, and that would be great news

Wouldn't it be great if they set up a checkpoint to get out of the Contemporary, BW, YC, etc. parking lots 20 minutes after park closing, and charge people to get OUT? :rotfl:

"Yes, sir, you parked your car here for free all day but if you want to take it with you now, you'll have to fork over $14."

And have a crowd of legitimate resort guests cheering on the sidelines.....

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

As a frequent guest of the BWV, I'd enjoy that, LOL. But they should charge DOUBLE the fee charged for parking in the theme park lots. And at the BWV, they'd probably only have to staff the lot between 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm. ;)

This truly is nothing really new. BW has had this policy in place for Food and Wine for years now. They actually put up jersey barriers to prevent anyone from entering that shouldn't be there. I'm thrilled they are doing it for Flower and Garden as well.
There is something I have been wondering about this. What if you wanted to eat at the ESPN Club or Beaches & Cream during this time, would you still be allowed to park? I know those two locations don't accept ADR's so you won't be on any list at the guard shack, so what's their policy when guests drive to the Boardwalk and Beach Club and say they want eat there?

In that case, I would assume that you would have to park across the street, behind the Hess Station. Or they can pay to valet park.

I really don't think any of those places that don't take ADRs are all that terrific. Sure, they're good in a pinch, but they just aren't places I would try to drive to and then have to find a parking spot. But, that's just my opinion.

I really wish the resorts, with park access (YC/BC/BW/CR/GF/Poly) would charge for parking if someone is unable to produce a room key for that resort. If you pay to park and then have that particular restaurant validate your parking ticket, you wouldn't have to pay. But, if you don't produce the validated stub, you have to pay to park. And that validated parking stub wouldn't be for a hugely long period of time. Maybe 3 hrs. Anything over that and you have to pay, even with validation. Dinners just don't take that long.

I agree with everything you said.

I’m a little confused…

Are any of you un-happy if people pay for Valet parking and then enter the parks? Or are you all just saying that it is wrong to try to get “free” parking when planning to access the parks?

From the link about parking restrictions for the Flower & Garden Festival, it says that “Valet parking will still be available” – so I’m assuming you are all referring to people who are trying to park for free.

Thanks for the help!

Absolutely! No one has any issue with those who pay for valet parking. The thing is that with both Flower and Garden and Food and Wine times, many people want easier access to Epcot. I can't say for sure how many are trying to avoid a parking fee, but many just like the ability to walk out the International Gateway and over to BW (or BC) and to their cars for an easier exit.
Many times you will see signage at the security booths, upon driving up to a resort, that states..'parking for park access is not provided'. Now, that would seem to be pretty clear to me, but others feel differently.

Well valet parking will always be available for guests staying at the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club, along with those who have confired ADR's at their various restaurants. So the Flower & Garden Festival or the Food & Wine events at Epcot have nothing to do with those who like to valet park at those resorts.
