Parking at other DVCs?

Were you ever allowed to park at other DVC locations beside the one you are staying at?

Has anyone ever been towed for parking too long at DVC they were not registered at?

I recall being waved in at other locations in the past based on the DVC parking permit issued by DVC we were registered at.

Disney is not going to tow a car as long as there is a valid resort parking pass displayed in the window and it's in a designated parking space.

Some resorts will only allow parking for registered guests, special event (weddings, etc) guests, or convention guests. The Boardwalk is one of those that will turn away those that are not in one of those groups.

We stayed at AKL and were able to park at Poly with no problems. We told the CM at the gate and they let us in after checking our KTTW card. We actually left the car there overnight as we hopped the monorail to MK and took the bus home. No problems at all with towing. HTTH.

There is no problem parking and paying money for some resort service (restaurant, store..)

You are not supposed to park at a resort to avoid parking at a theme park lot.

Overall, think of others. How you'll you feel if you paid to use a room, but had to park 10 rows away because of a bunch of day guests?

if i were a guest at the poly and couldn't find a spot due to people like this, i would want them would tow...

hopefully most people are more considerate.

Your DVC parking pass because you are staying at a DVC resort at WDW does not entitle you to parking at other resorts. It is only for parking at the theme parks and the resort you are staying at.

Does the Poly's lot ever fill-up completely? Our family has had breakfast at Kona cafe, then gone to MK for pictures for a couple of hours, or boated on 7SL, and come back in mid to late afternoon several times over the last decade in mid-June. We've always parked only halfway back, and there has always been ample parking.

Just don't tell anyone else you heard it from me.:smokin: or it won't stay true. (I agree it is very un-Disney to park at a resort for an entire day simply to avoid the congested theme park parking lot.)

Yes, we were staying there and could not find a single place to park in the lot, had to pay for valet. I was not happy as a paying guest to be shut out by those not staying there.

If you would like to go to another resort other than the one you are staying at for dining, shopping, etc. you are given a 3 hour pass.

If you are wanting to park there to access a park, then no, it is not allowed and not considerate of those staying there.

They are strict about this at those resorts that have locations near a park such as BLT, BWV and BCV as they should be.

I seem to recall that there was atime where DVC opwners were allowed to park at other DVC resprts to enjoy ythe anemities there.

Where do you park when you pool hop?

There was as far as I can recall never a special DVC rule relating to parking at the resorts. The rules were always the same as the rest of the Disney guests staying at WDW resorts who have a car, which is that you are not supposed to be able to enter and park at a resort unless you are staying there or have a valid resort related reason for being there. It is the interpretation of that resort related reason that can vary from resort to resort, time of year, and even time of day. For example, you are not likely to get into Contemporary/BLT unless you have a valid restaurant reservation or other provable reason because otherwise guests would just park there for MK. Likewise BWV but that rule tends to get thrown out toward evening because BW is a night time activity place. Pool hopping as a DVC member can be deemed a valid reason but not at resorts located close to parks. SSR is a place that is actually easy to get in by just telling them you are going to the golf course, restaurant, DVC preview center, or to use the boating recreational rentals. Sometimes, they will just let you in if you tell them you are just going to check out the resort and you are going to valet park.

I can understand the consternation many have over those who park at a resort and then go to a park. it is not an issue of whether the lot will fill, although that can happen at BW and sometimes at others, but an issue that the resort guests do not want to come back and find that the only parking spaces left are those a 1/2 mile or more from their rooms.

DVC members used to have free valet parking at any DVC resort.

The "grey area" is if you pay to Valet at another resort, eat at the resort, then go to a park, valet does not care.

I also believe it is OK to park at another resort when pool hopping (as long a you leave when you are done)

Just remember, if you were paying $500 a night, would you expect a closer parking space than a pool hopper?

I became a DVC member so I would not have to pay 500 a night.

I guess maybe I was thinking about the free valet. If I were staying on points or cash and there was not one single spot availble and I had to valet. i would speak to manager and am pretty sure the fee wouldbe waived .

I doubt that all of those spots were taken up by dvc members.

We enjoy going to differnt resorts and eating having a drink or shop.

Even DVC talks about members not parking at other resorts. For example, any DVC member staying at a WDW resort can now visit the TOTWL at BLT for the evening fireworks. But DVC also tells members they must use park transportation to get there because they are not permitted to park their vehicles there.

not true. you are allowed to self park for 3 hrs and valet with no time limit I have seen cars towed at bc because paying resort guests could not find spots.

unless you valet. You can valet at any wdw resort with no time limit.

DVC says not to park at BLT or the CR if you plan to visit the TOTWL and are not staying there. Parking is parking. Whether valet parking or self parking.

If you valet park with TIW, you will be given a time limit to that parking time. Three hours max and you must show a valid receipt from a TS restaurant at that resort during the three hour time frame that shows you used TIW.

I want to make sure I am not breaking any rules, but from my understanding when my boys and I go in september (staying at BLT) we will be able to park at BCV while going to eat at Beaches and Cream for lunch.

Am I correct?

We simply ask for a three hour parkin pass to eat.

that is fine, yes.

i would probably just walk from the BLT over to the bus hub at the MK and catch a bus to the BCV or one of the boardwalk resorts, but you can drive yourself if you prefer.
