Parkhopping to a park with no park reservation availability.

On several days this week the only park with park reservation availability is Epcot. For anyone at WDW this week how did that impact park hopping?
It does not make sense to me that if you cannot get a park reservation for HS you could make a park reservation for Epcot and then be allowed to parkhop to HS at 2:00 pm.

Park hopping has only been temporarily paused once under the current rules. That one time was to the MK on Oct 1 (50th Anniversary) and only lasted a short time.

I think Disney takes hopping into account when setting park reservation limits. They certainly have enough data - prepandemic, ADRs, even unsuccessful attempts to book park reservations - to estimate how many people are likely to hop and to which parks on a given day.

I would also think they would account for park-hopper specific tickets and/or number of AP reservations in their calculations as well. That being said, they stopped selling most AP's so I wouldn't be surprised to see them temporarily halt hopping during certain times of the year. But because they already may have sold hoppers during that time, I would suspect it would be extremely problematic for them to do so.

You're right about that, I have a 7 day park hopper ticket for my trip starting December 9. I hope they aren't pausing that too. I have no desire to stay in one park for the entire day, a lot of my trip is planned around eating dinner in World Showcase. They're tiring me out!

This is also my plan. Epcot is huge, and I don't think it ever ran out of reservations, even in early Covid reopening. I can see how HS/MK might limit hopping, but I think Epcot should be fine. At least that's my plan. I guess we'll see how many more changes Disney can throw at us in a couple weeks.

Of course they account for those numbers too. The point is they have enough data to predict how many guests will hop, and I think (I obviously don’t know for certain, just my thought) they’ve paused AP sales (as well as ticket sales for certain dates) to reduce the likelihood that they’ll have to pause hopping at short notice as they did to MK on October 1.
