Park Ticket/Annual Pass...Help

Ok, thank you fellow DVCers for answering my previous question. My DW wants to go longer then a 7 day trip so I ended up borrowing points and extending our stay to 12 days. So we will have time to hit the parks for these 12 days. When I went to price our Park Hoppers they only give the option of a 10 day ticket, do they have a 12 day option? With the DVC discount there is a break on annual passes but am I to understand that kids 3-9 pay the same for an annual pass? So 12 days park hopper verse an annual pass??????

The maximum number of days for a MYW ticket is 10. Disney does sell 14 & 21 day tickets to those across the Atlantic since they tend to stay longer.

If you don't want to go the AP route (which may be worth it if you can plan your next trip to be within a year), you can always go with the 10-day and not go to a park 2 of the days. With water parks, just hanging in your resort at the pool, resort-hopping, and DTD, you can easily spend two days over a 12-day stay that don't involve stepping foot in a park. The tickets are good for 14 days from first use so the 2 days you don't go to the park can be any two days over the length of the trip.

Correct, pricing for Annual Passes is the same regardless of age.

The way we approach whether or not to get an AP is to look at the cost for park hoppers for each of our trips for the year. If it ends up being close enough to the cost of an AP, we'll just go for the AP.

Even if you only go once a year, you can make good use of an AP by scheduling your trip the next year a week or two earlier. When I was regularly going every May and December, I would only have to by AP's every 18 months by scheduling that third trip right before expiration.

Thanks everyone.....more then likely we will not be going back with in the year. If I priced it right, park hoppers should run us $300 less for 10 days then the AP with the DVC discount. Park tickets will be the easy part....finding an affordable flight is a different story.

Do however keep in mind the AP discounts available and see if those would offset the cost above your 10 day ticket. It might not (probably won't if you don't buy a lot of merchandise/ use the discount on dining) but it is something to think about.

Another possibility is to get one AP and then buy everyone else regular park-hopper tickets. Therefore, you get the discounts but don't have to pay the extra price for every person in your party.

Other than room discounts, shopping/dining discounts are nearly identical for AP and DVC. In some cases, the DVC dining discount is less restricted (AP may be weekdays for lunch only).
