Park passes released now - Friday June 4th!

Echoing previous posters. Our trip is 12 days out- Trying to now imagine even bigger crowds with no more crowd eaters or restaurants reservations opening up. I'm trying to prepare my fam that even with our great touring plans that worked so well before, we will in all likelihood see less and wait more- Happy for everyone but worried for us-
I’m in a similar boat with a trip in mid-july. I can’t cancel my DVC rooms at this point but I’ve got backup plans involving Universal, SeaWorld, and some of the other Orlando attractions if the Disney parks are absolutely unbearable. If they really just jacked up a capacity again with no significant increase in attractions, not many more restaurants, and no fastpasses, it looks like July is going to be pretty miserable.

I'm not happy about this at all. I've been watching wait times which haven't gotten any worse than about 90 min for FOP. We Are going next week and with the increase in capacity, I'm worried how much more they'll increase.

I’m torn too. I’m two weeks out from our trip and have been monitoring the here now/just back thread like crazy, knowing that it will be a gradual change over these next two weeks as more and more schools get out. But seeing availability open up is starting to give me some concerns. Any chance they’re going to open up some shows to help eat these bigger crowds? Where else are they all going to go? I’ve already prepped the family that we will not get as much done this trip and that we will be back. Trying really hard to take a calm and laid back approach.

Going in 15 days, the trip I envisioned 4 months ago when I booked is totally different, for better or worse. I hoped they would open more restaurants/shows to boost attendance, not just herd more people in. Still looking froward to trip though and will have fun.

I had an issue where we wanted to add another day to our multi day ticket but couldn’t since one of the days in my 6 day window had no availability. When I called Disney a couple of weeks ago, the cast member told me to just keep checking. She said annual pass holders have different reservation availability and their exclusive window would likely be ending soon. Looks like today is the day.

Wow lots of people don’t want things to go back to normal!? Seriously? Anything that moves the arrow in the “normal” direction is a positive! Plus CP is back in action within days, so staffing will be increased exponentially thus opening of more things. Think positive people, it’s a refreshing thing!

It would be nice if this were just redistributing from the AP pool and not just adding. I feel like they are adding passes, but have no proof to back that up.

But some restaurants aren’t open, the ones that are have less capacity, and most of the shows that eat people aren’t running. So if they let more people in but don’t change any of that, it’s just going to mean longer lines and more people everywhere. The extra people have to be somewhere and do something. I’m all for heading toward “normal”, but then open everything if that’s the route your going.

They appear to be in the process of reopening everything. Hiring like crazy and bringing in CPs. I just find it ridiculous that many people on this thread are clutching their pearls at the thought of a return to normal. Have a tiny bit of patience. Things are opening, they’re just staffing up first.

I am sitting in Beach Club at the moment.... Random thoughts. The parks "feel" less crowded than usual. Esp Magic Kingdom in front of the castle, but with so many things closed in the parks the lines are an issue if you utilize fastpass like my family does. I would have an umbrella because the lines that are "only" 30 minutes(and every line is 30-50 minutes-which to my family gets very old) have so much of the queue outside- in the sun or rain. And when it does start to poor rain it is more difficult to find a place to be dry. The umbrella is better than a poncho for lines because of the sun factor. We come in May every year and the weather is fairly nice this time, but the sun beating on you at 2:00 PM is a factor.

Also, if you are in a park like Epcot and cannot find dining on the app go up to the restaurant itself. The App is either not efficient or it is made to be inefficient. We walked up to Via Niapoli, San Angel Inn, Rose and Crown and every time we were sat within a few minutes at 7:00-8:00 PM with the app showing no availability.

There is still a lot of safety theater going on in the parks. But, if you are looking for social distancing in lines or in the park-that is not happening.

Lastly, not good or bad just an observation. Went to Universal for a day and that is a completely different animal. No mask, everything is open-basically if you did not see someone with an occasional mask it looked and feels like two years ago. Service was pretty suspect because I am sure like Disney they are getting people hired and trained. I am a Disney person, but I enjoyed the experience at Universal as it was "normal". Have fun!!
Thanks for the advice! We are going to Beach Club in 1 week. Have there been lines/long waits to get into Stormalong Bay?

Sure, I don’t disagree. However, I’m just afraid/concerned that my trip in July is going to fall in the window where the parks are swamped with increased capacity but everything isn’t ramped up amd open yet. That would likely be short lived, but would suck for people whos trips fell into that window. Like mine. We weren’t able to take advantage of the actual low crowd/wait period because we couldn’t/wouldn’t travel when COVID was still so acute, I was hoping to catch the tail end of that instead of the opposite and have it be a mess.

“Normal” crowd levels with only half the guest experiences and restaurants opening (and at reduced capacity) is pretty bad.
Ok once more for the people in the back. They are hiring like crazy and bringing CPs back. More things are opening, stay tuned and stay positive!

I mean, sure, but then again, they increased capacity in the coming days, and I haven’t heard any announcements of any more restaurants, guest experiences, or fastpasses in the coming days, have you? They’re clearly increasing capacity first and then hopefully trying to play some level of catch-up but even that is the optimistic view.

it is easy to get into stormalong bay. I’m in a long line as I write to get a drink at hurricane Hannah’s though;). The pool is busy but it is easier to get seats than “normal.” But it is much harder to get a drink and eat. Go to the side with the kiddie stuff for drink people. The other side is not staffed for that where they do the pool party stuff.

Btw about a 10 minute line for drinks so not horrible.

I’m not disagreeing with you. But based on them opening up more park pass spots now, it seems as if they might be doing it backwards from how they should to preserve the guest experience. First open things up and hire, then let more people in. They can’t re-open shows with a days notice.

Exactly.
They added extra spots in an instant with no additional places for the crowds to go, so those of us going in the next couple of weeks are in for a rough time.

Wait times have been consistently not bad at all. So you can bring in extra crowds and not have a huge extension of wait times. But if y’all like the negativity by all means be my guest. I choose to see a return to normal as a good thing. Will it all run like clockwork? Probably not but if you are booking a vacation to WDW during all of this, then be prepared for changes.

Well, I hope that turns out to be right. However, as a guest, I choose the wait times that were lower before they let more in, even if the newer ones are still below the horrendous wait times that have been seen in the past pre-covid!

I haven’t been closely following wait times, and I know my family is spoiled and not typical, but we generally won’t wait in a line that is more than about 15-20 min long. We have always maximized FPs, used rolling FPs, did after hours and early morning magic, and bought the extra CL FPs to avoid lines- amd none of those are happening right now. So the lines that a lot of people are calling short right now aren’t ones we will wait in. I know that’s our problem, and we aren’t the norm, but I suspect it’s going to contribute to making this trip very different! I’m thinking we won’t get to ride much at all, which is really a bummer because this is the first trip my youngest twins will be 40” and can ride most of the rides with height requirements. I’m hopeful all of that stuff will have returned by next year- with a price tag we will still pay haha!

I guess you have a choice to make then. I choose to think positive! You do you!
