...can we get in at 7? Do they still allow you in an hour early on those days that park open early (this is not an EMH, but they are opening MK early that day to compensate for the Christmas party that evening). I assume rope drop at 8am, but would like to tour Main Street before.

It’s 7:45a when guests are allowed in for an 8:00a opening.

Common question. For 8AM openings, they start letting people on Main Street 7:45ish. You can make it up to the hub but no further. The Welcome Show is at the castle stage at 7:55AM, after which they “drop the ropes” and the rest of the park is open.

The whole “Main Street/Hub open an hour early” setup that applies to 9AM openings does not apply to 8 or 7AM openings.

If Buzz, Monsters Inc, and Speedway are RD plans to get finished by 9, would you suggest skipping Welcome Show to try to be closer to Tomorrowland? This is for a regular 8 am opening, not EMH.

If you're heading to Tomorrowland (or any land for that matter), you'll be in the hub anyway and can't really 'miss' the welcome show. You might have less of/no view if do you opt to hug the rope before the Tomorrowland bridge. I don't think your experience will be materially different if you hang more in the center of the hub to watch, or try to be the first person across the bridge. I find most folks are heading towards 7DMT, rope drop to other lands is far more orderly.
