I was thinking of scheduling our FP+ for the park we hop to. I figure if we make RD we can hopefully find lesser lines in the morning. Not sure how this would work with Epcot and the tiering. Anyone try this yet?
Well, before the announcement that park hopping and additional FP+ entitlements are coming, we were planning to do our AK day from RD to early afternoon without FP+, and instead use FP+ at MK later that day.
If the park hopping change is made by then, and depending on how things are looking before we need to make reservations (our trip is in the fall), we may now consider using one FP+ at AK saving only two for MK.
Assuming you're going before the FP+ park hopping feature is in place, I would think the RD in one park and FP+ in the second park wouldn't work as well for EPCOT and DHS because of tiering (assuming you want to do both TT and Soarin at EPCOT or TSMM and RNR at DHS), unless you are planning to visit those parks more than once during your trip.
For EPCOT, for example, if you want to ride both TT and Soarin on the same day without a super long wait, you would probably need to do one at RD (or possibly park close) and the other w/ FP+. But if you're going to be there across several days, you could always do RD at EPCOT twice, or do a RD morning one day and then come back another afternoon with FP+.
Really, it's all driven by your own personal preferences, what you're trying to see and do during your trip, the number of days you'll be there, and the potential crowd sizes you're there.
