If I'm reading the ticket charts correctly, the PH add-on now costs $42.60, including tax. But, on a typical 7-day vacation (5 full days), a 10-day ticket plus 6 would cost me $268.39, while a 4-day MYW base Ticket ($207.68), and a 1-day water park ticket ($37.28) would cost $244.96. So, for only $23.43, I get 6 extra trips to the theme parks (essentially turning my ticket into a hopper) and 5 extra trips to water parks/Disney Quest/PI.

Am I missing something?

Without the hopping option, the ticket will not let you into more than one park in a single day.

What do you mean by "a 10-day ticket plus 6?"

When you buy a 10 day premiun ticket you get 6 visits to any of the following:
water parks
Quest
Pleasure Island
the sports complex.

I just spent a lot of $$$ on 4 premium 10 day non expiring passes and I hope to get at least 2 trips maybe 3 out of it. The waterparks are one of our favorite stops so added that on is really great for us.

We're not a hopping family, but we always buy that hopper option just in case (one year we had to get out of Epcot and was glad we had the hopper option).

Here's my question...I can buy the tickets w/o the hopper now and have it added on later, right?

Thanks for the explanation Taratink.

So, what the OP said ("essentially turning my ticket into a hopper") isn't really the case, is it? You could "hop" from the MK to BB, but not MK to Epcot...as an example???

That's right, d4.

Correct; without buying the Park Hopper option, you cannot visit more than one of the 4 major parks on the same day with the same ticket. The water parks, DisneyQuest, PI and WWOS are 'plus' features; each time you visit one of them, you use one 'plus', and you can use more than one of those on a day.

I believe you can add it later. I know you can add days to your ticket during your visit at the lower per-day rates.

We bought 10-day tickets last year (w/ PH) and added 2 extra days for $3/day.

It was great. We had 3 tickets and added 2 days each. That's $3 /day /ticket for 3 tickets.

I paid a whopping $18 plus tax for 2 days at WDW for 3 people! Can't beat it!

How many days can you add on?

I guess I am really asking is why buy new tickets for you next trip if you can add on the your existing tickets for $3/day.

During your first vacation using the ticket (within 13 days after first usage day) you can add on days up to ten including the days already used up.

Note that the cost of non-expiration escalates as the number of days originally on the ticket increases. Thus for non-expiring passes the real cost of each extra day (except the tenth) is more than $2. Non-expiration works best with 7 or 10 day tickets where the remains of the ticket will completely cover a second vacation. You will almost always come out ahead with two non-expiring tickets the remains of both completely covering your third vacation.

If you also got water park fun, there are six of those visits with 7 to 10 day tickets and you could conceivably do something on each of 13 days with a 7 day pass or 16 days with a non-expiring 10 day pass.

Yes you could add on the hopper later but it will be for all the days you originally purchased not just what is remaining on the ticket.

Yes, adding park hopping is one set price, no matter how many days are on yout ticket.

We've never been to the parks without park-hopping! I don't think we could last a full day at one park. We like to go early, leave for a long break at the resort, then head to another park (most likely EPCOT) to finish off the night.

Don't the tickets expire 14 days after first use? If I buy a 10 day expiring pass with 6 plusses could I use 1 each day or does it have to be used in 14 days?

Thanks for clearing that up - I had in my head that "10 days" would be the same as "10 theme parks".

I think I'll still just go with a 7-day/6-option ticket, since it's only $16.51 more than a 4-day base MYW with a 1-day ticket to a water park (and only $3.21 higher than a 4/4 ticket).

My kids are all 16 and older (party of 6), and don't feel we'll need to hop this year. In fact, we plan to basically hit our favorite attractions at the parks, perhaps using early entry, and back to BCV by early afternoon for Stormalong, Boardwalk, ESPN Club, whatever (wife actually considered not going to theme parks at all, but wants to eat). We could then go back to the park for an evening meal, fireworks, etc.

Yes you can use one each and every day if you want and at dawn on the fourteenth day there will be three things left over. Near the end of that day it is probably not worthwhile* to pay $138. non-expiration to preserve the last two things for "tomorrow". So you might as well have used two plusses or a park day together with a plus on some of the first 14 days since you began using the pass.

*Possible exception: The last two things are park days, you have hopping, and you have a future vacation planned consisting of exactly two days during which you want to park hop. A new 2 day pass with hopping costs about $175. although you might prefer instead to start fresh then with a new 10 day non-expiring pass.
