Hello. We are thinking of buying one day park hopper tickets for a family of five. We are only interested in visiting two parks during the one day we have available, EPCOT and HS. Is it realistic to think we will be able to enjoy both parks in one day? Our plan is to spend the first part of the day in HS and the second half in EPCOT because it does not close until 9pm. Lunch will be at Sci-Fi in HS and a counter service dinner at World Showcase. We have never used the park hopper option so we are newbies. Any advice or suggestions you can share would be appreciated.

Totally Doable. IF you get to HS at RD you can ride all of the major rides (RR, TOT, and TSM) by your lunch ressie. Hop the boat and head to Epcot. Get fast passes for Soarin', wait in line for TT. If your kids are thrill seekers, the orange line on Mission Space might be cool while you wait for your Soarin' FP.We quite often do both of those parks in one day. Enjoy!

If you get park hoppers they will be good for all the days on your ticket. You cannot just add them to one day, it is one price to add it to tickets no matter how many days you plan on using them. So if you don't get everything done in one day you can go back on any other day.

The OP stated that she's only going to be there for one day.

To do Epcot properly takes about two full days. To do DHS properly will take at least one full day.

It is possible to do some of each together in one day, but you will miss a lot.

Yes, since DHS and Epcot are close together you could easily do DHS first, then go to Epcot for the rest of the day. If you're not certain you'll be able to do both parks in one day, just purchase the 1 day/1 park ticket first. Then when you get to Epcot add the hopper ($39 per ticket) to get into the second park.
