Can a person buy a park hopper pass for just one of the days, and buy the base pass for the others? We would only want to park hop on the day we go to AK and MGM, but not when we go to MK or Epcot.

Yes you can, but it will cost you mjore money that way for the case you describe.

The one day pas with hopping costs $101. The cost of hopping is $37. whether applied to a one day pass or a ten day pass.

Buying and using two different passes to cover the same vacation costs more than buying one pass that spans the entire vacation.

Now there is one strategy that will save you money ($37.) over several (less than 7 day) vacations extending over several years, if you want to pull it off. Buy two 10 day non-expiring passes, one with hopping, one without. Use the non-hopping pass on those days you do not plan to park hop, etc.

won't this cost you something like almost $700 per pair of tickets????? it's true you save per day( and have the tickets for another trip later) but you would be shelling out a ton to save $37 :rotfl:

But after you went on all those vacations buying just one (probably 10 day non-expiring) ticket with at a time, with hopping, you would have shelled out the same ton of money (about $737.) that is, not saving the $37.!

For a 7 day (in theme parks) vacation it is a close call whether to go with a 7 day expiring pass or a 10 day non-expiring pass, the cost advantage would depend on the length(s) of previous or succeeding vacations and whether you used the Water Parks & More (fka plus pack) option. For vacations of 8 days and over, one expiring pass for all or the first 10 days is usually better.
