Wednesday Dec 30th some friends of ours want to come that evening to partake in the fake New Years celebration/trial run at MK. If they ate at Biergarten (Epcot) at 5pm do you think they would have access to MK afterwards with their park hoppers? Just worried about possible closures for them. As of right now they have ADRs for Biergarten and Liberty Tree Tavern but they already have 2 other nights of Liberty Tree Tavern and was wanting to give them a little bit of variety. Was hoping to cancel the Liberty Tree Tavern ADR but didn't want to cancel if people think they run a strong chance of not being able to get in.

Thanks!

Do they have APs?
Are they staying at a WDW resort?

The NYE countdown fireworks are happening on dec30 and 31 in MK. I've read a lot of people like doing MK for the 30th and Epcot on the 31st. I think hollywood has a special NYE fireworks on the 31st also. Perhaps instead of a trial run, you could organize between the different NYE options on both days to stick to 1 park. The reality of it, it depends on how many people show up that day and you can't really preplan it. Depending on what phase of closure, you may not get into the park if you switch or get back into the park you just left. I personally would plan to stick to whatever park I got in earlier in the afternoon and enjoy the celebration options there.

If you are on site it won't be a problem in all likelihood. MK has only closed to all 1 time several years ago

If you are not on site or an AP holder I do not think I would chance it

I can't really offer advice, but I have to ask -- even as someone who enjoyed our dinner at LTT, why in the world would anyone make THREE ADRs at the same restaurant??
Lol, agreed and Ive never eaten there personally. They booked last minute and ADRs were hard to come by so I jumped on LTT when they were opened back up so their fam would have SOMETHING at least as fallback.

I thought resort guests were the last people to not be allowed in, so I think it would have to be the highest level of closure, which is very infrequent.

Correct. Also true of AP holders.
That's why I asked if they were staying on-site and/or if they had APs.

Even on site, you may not get into the park you want to get into.
We were at WDW last year for New Years and had a note put under our door suggesting guests choose a park, get there by 10:30 and stay in that park. It did say we would get into A park, but not necessarily THE park we wanted.

It's never happened to us, but one year as we were waiting for our bus on January 2, we talked to some other guests who had gotten on a bus going to MK. En route there, the driver got a message that MK was closed. So they took a quick vote of which other park to go to.

The only time in the past six years that any park has reached full phase 4 closure, which locks out on-site guests, was Magic Kingdom on April 7th, 2009. Since then, the Magic Kingdom has added capacity for about 20,000 more people. I can't imagine it happening again any time soon.

On site guests will be able to get into any park they want. Getting to the park might be difficult.

No need to eat table service every night. There are some very good quick service options.
