Did anyone travel to Paris,France in the Winter? Enjoyed ?

We are thinking about having a vacation there this Xmas, but we know we won't be able to see flowers in the city since it's in cold weather. Other than museums, what activities would be interesting there in December?

Did you see Moulin Rouge stage show (how much $) ?

Thanks in advance!!

We went in March, and let me tell you, it was freezing!!!! We did all the touristy (sp) things and froze our buns off. We did the bus tour of the city, which I do recommend, of course it is double decker and we had to sit on top. Again, we froze. Eifel tower, you guessed it, we froze.

:thumbsup2 Other than that we had a fantastic time. If you think Disney is expensive, look out. It is super expensive in Paris.

As for the Moulin Rouge show, we didnt get to see it. We were with the kids so we just did the museums, churches and stuff. We did drive by it on the bus and I have to say it is in a seedy part of town.

I hope I helped a tiny bit

I went a year ago in February to Paris as a chaperone with my daughter's high school French class. Yes, it was cold and it also snowed a little, which I guess is very unusual for Paris. We saw Versailles in the snow. Since it was a school trip, most of our time was spent in museums and churches. We did go to the Eiffel Tower. The good thing about going in the winter is that the crowds were minimal -- only about a 45 minute wait to get in the Eiffel Tower. But I did miss not being able to see the beautiful gardens, taking a boat ride on the Seine, sitting outdoors at a cafe, walking most places instead of using the Metro, etc. I loved Paris and was thrilled that I was able to go, but would have preferred it later in the Spring. Maybe, next time.

I have been twice. Both times in January. As Linda said, it is not too long of a wait to get into places so that is nice. We walked in to the Louvre with no wait.
I walked a TON and spent lots of time just looking. I didn't think it was too too cold except BOTH times I went to Disneyland. It poured and was freezing!

I didn't see Moulin Rouge so I don't know the price.

:cloud9: I just adore Paris.

It will be very, very cold! If it snows-- there is nothing more beautiful than Paris in the snow!

The Moulin Rouge is a big rip-off, IMHO. Very shady area of town, very shady characters, and you would do better to see a show in Vegas. It just didn't live up to the hype.

Paris has some amazing jazz clubs. Along with the museums and churches, there is great shopping, amazing food, the Pere Lachaise Cemetry has loads of famous people buried there, from Mozart to Jim Morrison and Moliere to Oscar Wilde. The sculpture and grave markers are beautiful. Take a cruise down the Seine and go to the opera. There is load to do in Paris, you just have to do a little research and planning. You could always go to Disneyland Paris! :)

If you go, I highly recommend getting a museum pass. These passes include most of the major and many of the minor museums. If you visit more than 4 museums, they pay for themselves.

For my most recent trip, I used Rick Steve's Paris book. www.ricksteves.com is the website. It was great! Not so much touristy stuff but lots of local culture.

Hope that helped.

How's Paris holiday atmoshphere on the streets? Lots of beautiful light decorations ?
