My daughter finished classes today and will come home tomorrow for the weekend. She has finals next week and we'll pick her up on Friday.

She'll be studying Korean with a tutor and will also be working (I hope).

I can't believe freshman year is almost over as well. A few bumpy patches but overall a good year.

DS finishes Friday. Its been a pretty good year. He didn't love the dorm but will be off campus next year. He needs a summer job so hopeflly he will find one soon.

My DD comes home tomorrow and I can't believe her freshman year is over already.

My mom always told me that time goes faster the older you get, but this is unbelievable. I don't think this is fair. I think it should go slower the older you get because you are better able to enjoy it.

She had a great year other than a track injury (shoulder impingement), so I am not sure if she will do track next year or not. I don't want her doing any permanent damage for a voluntary sport. She is D3, so she doesn't get any scholarship money for athletics, it is all for merit, so it doesn't matter if she participates or not.

She is coming home to work at the Country Club this summer, where she normally works 40-50 hours per week. I would like her to take a summer school class through our local CC, but I am not sure she is hip with that. She had enough hours from dual credits that she could probably shave at least 1 semester off her undergrad, which would leave more money available for grad school, but we will have to see.

She and her new bestie signed up to room together next year in a suite dorm. They won't have suite mates, but will have a private bath, all at the same price as the freshman communal bath dorm, so that is nice.

I am glad the majority of our students had a good year!

How does she feel about possibly giving up track?
If you had asked me DD's senior year of HS if she might give up track in college I would have said no way, but I'm not so sure any more. DD red shirted D1 this year. She loved some things about being on the team: early registration, athletes lounge, free gear, daily food allowance, laundry services, etc, but she definitely missed the closeness of her high school track team. I actually think she enjoyed a a couple of intramural volleyball teams she played on in the off season more than she did the track team. LOL - It will be interesting to see if she sticks with collegiate athletics or not. Honestly I'd be fine either way.

I agree with y'all...the year went way too fast. Mine, twins, finish up finals next week and we pick them up on Thursday. They had a decent year. Looking forward to this summer because they likely will move into an apartment next May and stay up there (in PA and we are in NC)....boo.

I asked her about track next year because she has already spoken with the coach about not doing the indoor season. She is a thrower and prefers discus and javelin, but of course indoor is only shot and weight which are two events she doesn't prefer.

I asked if she had plans for not participating at all since she has been injured, but she said she wasn't ready to make that decision.

Unfortunately, D3 doesn't have quite as many perks. She did get free gear, but none of the other things you detailed. She did have to pay for a new pair of throwing shoes, of course at a discount, but still, out of pocket.

My DD took her last in class final today. She still has an online final to do. I'm actually in Disney. I forgot about having to get her when I booked the trip. Oops! I fly home tomorrow. Turn around and leave early Thursday morning to get her. She's 360 miles away. We will drive home Friday. Can't believe how fast the year went.

Whoop! My DD is officially a sophomore. Her last final was yesterday and she’s moving back home tomorrow.

DD won't be home until the 25th. She finished her second semester at the end of April, then they have "short term" in May, where they take a one credit class.

DD realized yesterday her school email wasn't coming into her phone for the last week, so she thought she didn't have any. When she checked online there was good news/bad news. The good news is, she got a $1000 scholarship from the school foundation. She had told me last week she tried to apply but couldn't get it to work and the due date was past. I told her to just try again and tell them she had computer problems so she threw something in quick and then saw in her email they had extended the deadline due to their technical issues . So far I've only had to pay $275 tuition and got that back on our taxes so she's doing great with the scholarships and there are more to come (this is community college so all the small and local ones have gone a long way).

Bad news is she also got an email from a professor that a project was missing and he needed it a week ago. When she gets back to school tomorrow she's going to try turning it in anyway. She knows he got the hard copy and she thought she turned it in digitally, but maybe not. So she stressed about that a little last night.

Happy Mother's Day! This is my first Mother's Day in 27 years that I don't have at least one child at home. But we get to go pick up our college guy on Friday! I'm so excited that he'll be home for the summer. His calculus final was in class, so he's had that one already and thought that it was easy. He was deep into chem review last time I talked to him. His last exam ends Friday at 6:30pm, and he is going to the high school prom on Saturday. So, we're going to drive up Friday and then leave for home early Saturday morning to get him here for a haircut at noon. Hopefully, his rental tux will be ready for pick-up here. He was measured at a store up by the college, but it's supposed to come here for pick-up.

My third year DS finished his exams super early and came home on Monday with 1/3 of his fraternity dorm room stuff. We picked up DD on Wednesday. The SUV was packed to the gills with her dorm stuff. DS went back up to school for his 21st birthday on Thursday and brought home another 1/3 from his dorm room. Then he went to the beach for a couple of days before he starts his internship on Monday. He'll go back up to school to watch his 4th year friends graduate next weekend and get the last 1/3 from his room.

My house looks terrible with two extra rooms worth of stuff exploding all over it. I went to Lowes yesterday and bought a bunch of 31 gallon bins to contain it all. I've been washing and repacking everything in the bins as the kids sort through their stuff. As we are going through it all, we are making a list of what needs to be replenished or replaced in August.

Hope you all have a Happy Mother's Day!!! DH took us to brunch this morning. We've got honey garlic ribs cooking in the crockpot now. DD is going to make zucchini and rice as side dishes, and DH got stuff to make ice cream sundaes for dessert. Both my heart and my house are full!

Happy Mother's Day!! We got home yesterday with the Forrester stuffed even after putting 4 boxes of stuff in storage. Luckily dd is tiny because she only had about a 1/4 of the backseat. My house is a disaster.

Update, she got an email back from her professor that he had graded the project from memory so no worries! 4.0 for the year.

DD will be in her apartment through the summer so no moving-home messes here. She and her roommates did talk about moving to a second floor apartment in August so they'll have a balcony but I hope they don't. They can stay right where they're at and we wouldn't have to move furniture. It's also really nice where they are, closest to campus, and right by the parking lot. My dad who doesn't walk far was able to visit at Easter since it's a very short walk from the car.

She worked this weekend so I didn't see her today but she should be around Monday till whenever she works on Thursday. She made plans to visit BFF at her college Fri/Sat but forgot that is also State Track where she wants to cheer for her former teammates so she's got to figure out her plans.

DD called DH on Friday to see what we were doing. She was scheduled to have 3 finals on Monday but teacher had them do it last week, another professor just had the class turn in a paper and the 3rd is just an in class thing they have to do . She said its easy so she had free time if we wanted to drive out there. Dh and I spent the night out there so that was nice. she sent back a truck full of stuff. We will go back in a few days to move her out.

Question: For those that had a kid move into an on campus apartment , was the fridge turned on and ready to store food on move in day? I'm guessing yes but wanted to make sure. I'll have to have DD ask but these are the things I'm thinking about this late at night-lol! I was ordering a wal-mart gift card from my rewards that's why I was thinking about the fridge. I earned two $25 gift cards so I got one walmart because she can use it there or at Sams club. I'm debating on the 2nd gift card. I'll have to ask her if she wants another one for walmart or one for target for the food section. I'm going to start her food budget at $50 a week. Right now I have the $50 in rewards gift card and $30 cash from Ibotta= total $80

I'm so happy I don't have to pay the meal plan $$$$. Hopefully she enjoys cooking and it works out

At my daughter's school all the dorm refrigerators are on and cold on move in day. Every room has either a micro-fridge combo or a galley kitchen. Her school doesn't have traditional dining halls but students are still required to have dining dollars to use at area grocery stores and restaurants.

Tomorrow is my son's 19th birthday. It's his first birthday away from home, and he's in the middle of stressful finals. So, I baked a cake and put together a little birthday package for him. I got it to the post office yesterday morning before work, so that it would be there for his birthday. I tracked it today. It's currently out for delivery in Rochester (14621). It's supposed to be going to 14261. I can't believe that I transposed two numbers in the zip code. I have no idea where it's being delivered today, but there is no way it's going to be where it needs to be tomorrow. Since he's leaving school on Friday, who knows if we'll ever see it again. (

All that work and $10 in postage for naught, and no package from mom for the birthday.

If there's grub hub near his school maybe you can order dinner to be delivered and include a piece of cake.
