Parents of Boys (maybe girls too, don't want to be sexist) ;)

So...how many Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars can one little boy possibly have and play with???

My 5YO has a suitcase with 24 slots in it, he doubles the cars up, and still has leftovers!!!

Currently, they are lined up by color and style across the family room floor. :teeth:

Debbie, my DSs are now almost 15 and almost 12 and I STILL find Hot Wheels when I clean out their closets! I think those little cars look for a dark quiet corner and reproduce! :p

ummm...there's at least a thousand....if not 2000, Matchbox/Hotwheels/Johnny Lightning/et al between two boys in my house

Wow bumcat. I love matchbox cars - I would love to see your collection. Our kids have over 100 I'm not sure exactly how many but lots and lots. They love them too and are thrilled to get a new one.

My son just turned 7, he has 250! It's all my fault he has always loved hotwheels and when I was potty training he would get one every time he went on the potty.
when I felt he was potty trained it was getting out of control, I started giving them to him every other time and so on, till I could finally stop. He still gets them when he's very sweet (which is alot).

Well, my daughter has about 10. All she wanted for Christmas was the Octoblast! Ugh! She is really a girly girl but likes anything that looks cool and she thought that the Octoblast was THE thing to have! I personally think it is the ugliest toy ever produced! I have a picture of her somewhere playing with her Octoblast in her Snow White princess dress. Talk about eclectic tastes! ;)

The Octoblast *groan* - Note the gross octopus with silver fangs

Ok--so what you are all telling me, is that we have not even started to scratch the surface, right??? ;) :teeth:

And, coincidentally enough, he 'forgot' to put them away tonight, so they are still on the floor. He will be picking them up in the morning.

I guess I better start looking for bigger storage. I think I will check out the Lillian Vernon thing, sounds like it would do the trick.

Good Night to everyone, I hope you all have sweet dreams!!!

MosMom--we got the FIREBALL last year, some big orange thing that looks suspiciously like your octopus. It is big, and awkward, and LOUD. I would love to see the pic of her playing cars, with her princess dress on, too cute!!!

We have a ton here too! We have a few cases and there are a bunch in the bottom of the toy box. Also a shelf that my sister made to house some of them, picture below. There are 42 on the shelf and I know we have at least 3 other cases, plus the toy box collection, so I would guess we have well over 100 cars.

DS (6-1/2) likes to use his wooden blocks and create tracks and buildings so he can drive around them. And even though he has so many cars, he always wants to buy more!

Matchbox cars and Legos aka " toe breakers"

OUCH!!!!.. ;) :p ;) The things I would say when wandering thru the house barefoot at night when I would step on one of those two toys..

and Deb.. 60.. wow.. yup.. you've just begun!!! LOL

Deb, just noticed this thread, sorry. OK, DS is 18 and we still have 5 cases of 24 hot wheels or matchbox cars. He doesn't want to give them away. He also has all his legos. Can you say two big rubbermaid tubs? He has given up most of his childhood toys, so if he wants to keep these I will let him. BUTTTTTTTT when he moves out on his own, he is taking them with him.

Lots of match box cars here. :)

OMG! We have so many match box cars, it's not even funny. It seems when my older DS was little and we'd go shopping, I'd let him pick out his favorite of the week. They are really inexpensive to buy -- one at a time. Now, we have a big rubbermaid snap-top box full of them. It's one of the bigger one -- 18 quarts or something like that. I keep it up on the high shelf and it's really heavy to get down (hmm, I wonder why it's up there??). The kids love to do all sorts of things with them -- lately they have been lining them up in a circle around the little round picnic table we have. It's amazing the new things they can find to do with them!

This is a great thread :)

My parents still have cases upon cases of hot wheels from the 60's and early 70's....now in our family the big problem is which boy gets the train set and which gets the vintage Hot Wheels;)

Ah yes, Hot Wheels! We are just gettin' started on this!

For Christmas, my brother and his girlfriend (our sons nanny) bought him this big roller-boards-suitcase type thing. It probably holds 100 cars, I'd say. My son has about just less than half filled. We are working on it though. LOL!

We have 2 cases and they are full. We also have a large array of other vehicles in various sizes. Including 2 Large garbage trucks, 2 fire trucks, a flat bed that holds a heliocopter, a crane, a couple backhoes and a few dump trucks.

DS#2's room looks more like a parking lot than a bedroom.

He also lines his matchbox cars up by color! How funny. Santa brought the Car Wash and now our cars get cleaned on a regular basis...... The joy of boys!
