I'm folding laundry this morning, and as I was folding my 4yr old undershirts, I was wondering if anyone else makes their child wear an undershirt. Now when I say "makes" I do mean "makes". My 4yr old DD doesn't have a choice, she has to wear one (she doesn't argue though, she knows she has to wear it).

I also have a 9yr old DD, and I have undershirts for her, but I don't make her wear them. I figure, at this age, their available, and if she's cold, she'll wear one:)

What's your opinion on undershirts?

Are you sure you aren't my Aunt Rose??? I forgot about her obsession with me and my cousins wearing undershirts until I saw your post!! :lmao: The answer is no.

Nope, not since I put onesies on them as babies.

DD8's chest is showing signs of change, so I bought some camis for her - but I don't force her to wear them. They are there if she wants them.

My kids have never worn them. Neither did I. DS thinks plain white T-shirts exist only for ballet and dressing up 50s style:rotfl:

Only until they were about 3 or 4 and then only when it was cold out.......P

I do make my son when he goes to school. My kids go to a Catholic school, and I do not like men/boys to wear a white dress shirt without an undershirt. So yes, I make my son waer one, but my daughter can if she wants to as she wears a sweater over her white shirt.

What's your opinion on undershirts?

Ill tell you my opinion.... Grandma? Are you listening???

I hated undershirts! Why did I have to wear one?!?!? WHY? Every day - layer me up! I hated them!!! And an undershirt and a snow suit, just to go to school??? I only had to walk from the car to the door! It was like 50 feet!!! :confused3

IM ANTI UNDERSHIRTS!

And because of this, I dont even tell the kids to zip up. In fact the 16 year old doesnt even wear a coat. Not even a hoodie. He recently got his drivers license, and he said any sort of coat interferes with his driving - and considering it makes me nervous to begin with - go coatless, my good man, go coatless!

They dont wear hats, they dont wear gloves. I figure if theyre cold - they'll put something on. :thumbsup2

ETA - Joey (16) DOES wear undershirts.... as his only shirt. LOLOLOL!

Not since they outgrew the onesies. They do each wear a sweater or hoodie to school (or if they don't wear them I make sure they are in their backpacks).

Now if you were talking about husbands.... mine wears an undershirt under t-shirts. :confused3

My kids won't wear coats either. After a few years of that, I just stopped caring!

Neither of my children have ever worn undershirts.

But, recently I have been making my dd (10) wear a sport type training bra under her shirts, to school.

No, the only time my kids wore undershirts is when they wore onsies as infants. :)

They only wear undershirts when they are wearing a sweater.

I make my 9 yo wear them because he has SID and the tags on his regular shirts bug him along with seams, stitching, the threads on the backs of buttons, rough fabric....... Also he is painfully thin (37 lbs) so he can only wear pants with those adjustable waists and of course the buttons and elsatic bug him - so he wears a nice soft, tagless undershirts which he tucks in to his pants and it really does help elminiate SOME of his discomfort. In summer time I switch him over to just regular t-shirts - but he'll tuck them in - looks goofy but if it makes him more comfy so be it :)

DD6 decided she wanted some too so she has some cami type ones. DS4 does not wear them.

My dd's wear them - I don't MAKE them, but they don't seem to mind putting them on - of course they don't wear them during the warmer months

I had to wear them as a kid and hated them. My children have never worn undershirts. They often want to go to school with t-shirts on in the winter and I make them at least take a hoodie or something in their bag in case they get cold, but that's it.

Why do you make your 4 yr old wear an undershirt? Do you keep your house really cold or something?

Nope. What IS an undershirt??

I never used onesies on my kids, either. I don't like clothes that snap at the crotch. Makes there belly all goofy looking.
