Parents.......do you make your child wear an undershirt???

NO, DD doesnt wear them. She is always hot, a furnace since she was a baby. I was always cold and I wore them as a child.

I make my DS (2) wear them in the winter. My DD wore them when she was little, I can't remember when she stopped. I wore them as a kid too and I hated them! :lmao: Now, my DH is unbelievable. He wears one all the time. All year round. He even wears one under a regular tshirt. I see the white showing from the sleeves. :confused3 I always say to him, "who wears a tshirt under a tshirt?" :lmao: At least I don't put them on my DS in the warmer months. My DH probably wonders why I don't. :lmao:

When I was "undershirt" age, I lived in Hawaii, then Florida, so I never wore an undershirt.
Even now, I will only wear a very light weight T under a sweater if it is an itchy sweater (wool). Otherwise, I'd rather throw on an additional outer layer that I can easily remove. If I get too hot and all I have on is the sweater and an undershirt, I don't really have a viable option if I am at work.

They only wear undershirts when they are wearing a sweater.

I will have them wear a t shirt under sweaters or sweatshirts just in case they get too hot, so they can take them off and not be stuck in the the hot sweater all day.

There is this girl in DD's dance class that wears one (you can see it) under her dance leotard. It looks really strange. I wonder why they do it? It is a cami type, and the girl is not "early" developing so that isn't the issue.

Honestly I have a hard enough time just getting my kids to wear winter clothes in the winter. Undershirts would be out of the question. I wouldn't even consider it.

No, but we're in Texas. It would be child abuse for 8 months of the year. :rotfl2:

My boys choose to wear them. My 14 yr old wears one every single day under everything. They like that they're very soft and keeps their shirts from feeling itchy or sticking to them. Hubby has to wear one because of the suit to work deal and the kids were taking his undershirts so I ended up buying undershirts for all. Actually, I tend to wear tanks under my shirts as well. Of course, my office is like sitting in a fridge.

DS, who is 5, wears an undershirt in the winter. The sleeveless kind.
His school is cold sometimes in the winter and he is thin and can use an extra layer of clothes to keep him warm.

Nope - dd5 has NEVER worn an undershirt. She is rarely cold, even in winter. It never even occured to me to have her wear one.

no not usually and I don't MAKE ds. He will, however, wear a t-shirt under sweaters/sweat****s.

DH will wear undershirts under dress shirts on the rare occasion he wears a dress shirt.

That does sound like a Grandma thing.

My Grandma was obsessed with undershirts as well. Since my kids outgrew onesies I haven't bothered.

My son isn't a coat kid either.. I'm lucky if a hoodie comes on.

Where do you even buy undershirts (for girls)? I never knew that they even existed anymore. :confused3 My girls have never worn one. They wore bodysuits as babies, of course. And my older daughter sometimes wears a cami under a sweater or if she is wearing something that itches her chest. Other than that, no.

My daughter wore undershirts up until a couple of years ago. She's 7 now and doesn't even have any.

I put undershirts on my DS who is almost 2 every day during the winter. He is a TALL child so we haven't been able to use onesies in a LONG time. My DH wears one every single day, even in the summer under t-shirts.

I put them on him mainly for warmth. We keep our house very cold, as does the babysitter. Plus, I don't like to put real bulky sweatshirts or sweaters on my son as he gets so hot running around. Plus, at nap time they kind of bunch up around his neck and look so uncomfortable. He mainly wears long sleeved tee's and knits with an undershirt instead.

I buy the packages of white t-shirts in the boys dept. for my daughter. She only wears them under the zip-up type sweatshirts so she can take off the sweatshirt if she gets hot.

My 2 year old doesn't wear them at all. I stopped the onsies when both girls were a year old.

Nope - Not since he wore onsies!

But he does like wearing them to bed sometimes in the summer with a pair of boxer shorts.
