This will be our first trip to Universal and we have a skiddish 6 yr old. We all want ride WWoHP but I just know he will freak out. Any way we could swap out parents like Disney? Not sure if this is offered.

Most definitely. It works a little differently at Universal. The entire party goes through the line and there is a waiting room right at ride loading. One parent waits with the child. When the party has finished riding, one person swaps with the waiting parent in the waiting room and the party rides again.

Since I know you mean Forbidden Journey, I want you to know that the line is inside the castle (which is cool) and it is somewhat loud in parts and it is DARK. My son didn't want to go into the castle on our first visit, so even if we had had two adults to ride it (right now only I can ride it because of the restraints and DH's size) it wouldn't have worked.

If you think he can go in, I would recommend earplugs just in case the sounds get to him. And don't be surprised if he needs some assurance in the darker parts of the castle. I probably wouldn't make that ride be his first experience with their rider swap system, so that he KNOWS that there's a good spot for him and a parent to wait while the others ride.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the info! As long as he knows he won't be forced to ride he should be fine. We were just not looking forward to getting back in line again just so everyone gets a chance to ride. Worries lifted.......

I like the child swap at universal parks over disney parks. With Universal you get to go through most of the lines as a family and then at the end you are directed to an air conditioned room, usually with tvs playing. After your family rides and comes into the room you then get in line, with your other members. Honestly only RPR and FJ have limited the number since I usually have my niece and nephew too. You don't have to wait through another long line, or FP que. Most the time you get to ride in just a few minutes.
