Want to surprise to surprise my dh with a parasailing adventure. I'm just not sure how to go about it. He's never been but he'd have to go alone because if the weight limit. (I'm hoping he's not too big he's 6'1 and about 230lbs) and tips would be great. Also we are staying first week of dec at the BC. We are staying club level and I'm not sure if they help with that. Thank you

Last year in November, my son (250 lbs) went parasailing. I called Sammy Duvall and booked the day/ time ahead of time at the Contemporary. When we arrived, I was allowed to ride in the boat as he sailed. That was great, but there were not a lot of people scheduled to ride at that time. If it was booked heavier, I'm sure I would have been watching from the pier. At any rate, it was terrific and I'm sure your BF will enjoy it. Have a great time.

I did this a few years ago on Christmas Eve. My friend and I were the only two scheduled at our time, so it was just us on the boat other than the employees. A couple of things I wish I knew:
  • The longer/higher ride was, in my opinion, a waste of money. It's really kind of a small lake, and after a while it was actually kind of boring to me. I was ready to be brought down. I should have saved the money and reserved the shorter ride.
  • I didn't think about it in advance, but when I boarded the boat I noticed a sign "Tips appreciated" or something like that. I don't carry much cash at WDW because I charge everything to my account. Good thing my friend had some cash.

I wouldn't worry about your husband's size/weight. I'm not that tall but around 230 lbs., as is my friend, and no one batted an eye.

But I encourage you to go and do it with him! One goes up first, then the other. That's what we did.

I did this with my youngest DD in September of 2012. It was awesome! We had been scheduled to do this in 2010 with all 3 of my kids, but it was cancelled due to the fact that the temperature was only 35 degrees that day. Make sure that if you do schedule it, that you give them your cell phone number that you will be using while there so that if they need to cancel, they can get you. We were actually on our way there when they called, so we were able to divert and go to the parks without too much of an issue.
