My son and I will be in at WDW for his 29th birthday on Oct. 4. He has decided he wants to go parasailing...(I will be watching safely from the ground...!). Has anyone done this? I guess I have seen too many of the videos of people being dragged through the water etc. I would love to hear if anyone has done this or seen anything bad happen at WDW...
Thanks for your input. Even though he is grown, doesn't mean Mom doesn't worry...

I did not go but I watched them from the little watermice in the lake. They actually never seem to touch the water. The wind takes them off the back of a speed boat held by ropes and they sail around for a few minutes. Then they actually pull them in right onto the boat. Not one did I see fall in the water. I might try it some day after watching this. Didn't look that bad just high...

I've gone three times. I felt very safe each time. It was a great experience! Even my mother did it.

I did it for my 40th birthday. It was such a blast. You dont get wet at all unless something goes wrong maybe? I wouldnt want to say you never get wet but I know when I went I never got wet and I was never in danger of getting wet either.

My dh and I went parasailing in Turks and Caicos and it was awesome!!!

We went parasailing at Castaway Cay this past January... it was wicked cool. They reel you out and you're up in the air for about 5 minutes or so, then they reel you back in and you take a couple of steps and the guide is there to help you.

The other boat dunked some of the teenagers but ours didn't, he said he would dunk us if we wanted to though.

Both my DW and I went parasailing on Bay Lake, out of the Contemporary. It was terrific!
It was a surreal experience. Once we got up in the air it was eerily quiet. The views of MK and the surrrounding areas were awesome!!
DO IT!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :cool1: :cheer2:

My 7 year old daughter and myself went Tadem and so did my husband and 8 year old son at the Contemporary last month. One thing they did do to my daughter and me was dunk us in the water even though I specifically told them not to. He said it was an "accident" he said he likes to bring everyone down and let thier toes dunk in and then go back up, that is what he did to my husband and son, but with my daughter and I he dunked us completely in to the water and my daughter was down lower than me so she went in to her neck. I was not very happy with the driver and I told him so. He apoligized a few times and said he really didn't mean to do it that low. It wouldn't have been a problem if we were in our suits, but we were in our clothes and we did not have a change of clothing. My dauther cried her eyes out which really bummed me out because besides that part it was a wondeful experience. She really enjoyed being up in the air and said how cool it was the whole time, but that part of it really ruined the whole thing.

A friend and I are going tandem this December and I am excited to try it.

How far in advance would you recommend making reservations??

We went in March 2004. My husband went tandem with my DD13 and I went with my DD16. It was a windy day and I think I would've enjoyed it more if it was calm. We were okay but there was another couple on the boat with us and they went after us. The wind caught them as they were coming in and they landed in the water. The crew radioed for help and several boats arrived immediately. The woman got a bump on her head from hitting a clip on the harness. They were very cold. It was a chilly, windy day and the water temp was only about 68. They were fully dressed, shoes and all. The man lost his sunglasses. They were really good sports about it, I can't believe they took us up with the wind the way it was.

We did this on July 3 this year.

I didn't go up, just along for the ride and to video.
My BIL took up DS11 for a birthday treat, my DH went up, and both my parents. Mom is 59 and dad is 62.
Wind was calm, waters were a bit choppy though.

Everyone loved it. I really thought mom was going to chicken out, she is not a thrill person at all. But she thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone says this is on the "to do" list for the next trip.

The driver dunked everyone except my dad. Only ankle deep.

One thing DH did,he took up a disposable waterproof camera. Got some neat shots from way up high.
I will try and post some pics later.

You can book 90 days out, I think. and probably as soon as possible. It was booked almost every day we were there. We spent lots of time at the marina.

That sounds like a ton of fun! How would we go about getting more info?

Who do we call or how do we get reservations?

How much is it?

TIA!:D
