I am planning on a trip in late Oct.

It will be my first time at a Resort Hotel.

What is the current state of construction at DLH?

Opinions on better hotel for the price?

They will have about a month+ of construction to go when you visit. So it may have some small impacts on a visit to the DLH.

In general since most of the area of the DLH is revamped that guests will see they like it a lot. The DLH rates have gone up too.

PPH is closer and the rooms tend to be bigger as well.

If you wait until next week to book, there is supposed to be a hotel discount of 30% off Paradise Pier and 25% off Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian.

I stayed at Paradise Pier last December and absolutely loved it. The rooms were very spacious and if you want you can catch a glimpse of World of Color from the pool area.

Never stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, but am quite looking forward to it when they are done with construction.

Thanks, I received the Disney Visa email last week so I can book before Tuesday for the discount that is why I am trying to make a decision this weekend.

Is the walk that far to Paradise Pier? ? # of minutes.

The walk for our Family was about 3-5min to California Adventure (that was using the GCH side entrance.) The walk to Disneyland was about 6-10min cutting through GCH and DTD. If the Monorail is going about 5 min walk to DTD Monorail.
Also to us the PPH rooms are bigger with the DLH being smaller. PPH smaller hotel with DLH being more spread out. DLH like the newer pool, PPH pool has water slide.

I found the walk very reasonable, though I didn't time it. Maybe about 5 minutes to the security check. I spent the whole walk looking at all the shop windows and Christmas decorations.

We like PPH a ton better! That said, when we stayed at DLH we had a very oddly shaped corner room. You walked into it and then down a 20 ft skinny hall into the "room part" which was really small, like hardly wider than the queen bed and two nightstands. I don't think this was a normal room, but it scared us off DLH. I like the atmosphere at PPH and the walk isn't bad at all.

We love the Paradise Pier. Like the bigger rooms and the WOC view rooms (we stay in a family suite: there are 8 of us).

Just got back from the Disneyland Hotel. I loved it! The pardon our dust walls were up so we could not see the area in between the towers, and since it was my first visit to this property I'm not sure what I was missing.

Our room was located in the Adventure Tower and was one of the rehabbed rooms. The headboard was gorgeous and the beds were great. I wish this hotel was in WDW so I could stay there again soon :)

The walk to the parks from this hotel wasn't bad at all, either. Will stay here again when I return to DLR.
