I have spent many hours reading all the posts on several forums about the differences between these two hotels but still can't make up my mind.I would love to get some current info as many of the posts were from a while back. We will be traveling to Disneyland for 5 days (Jan 31-Feb3). We are booked at the HOJO for those nights at the entertainment card rate (Wow!). We have stayed in the past at the Park Place Inn and Suites(nice location), the Candy Cane Inn (which I loved), and we also stayed at the Grand Californian as a special treat one year....I was not as impressed as I had hoped. The beds at the GCH were not comfortable for me and the room was a bit snug for our family of 5..don't get me wrong though it is a gorgeus hotel and we were able to be Family of the Day which was a blast. With that family of the day prize we had access ONE night to the concierge room which was a lot of fun. Okay, so my dilemma is that I got an email offer for Disneyland hotels that offers rooms at the PP for $149, DH for $169 and the GCH for $229. We can actually upgrade the PP to concierge for an extra $50/night. What I really would like to do is stay two nights at the HOJO and the last two nights at PP or the Disneyland hotel but we may just switch the whole reservation. I won't be paying the concierge price at the Disney Hotel because it was an extra $140 a night but I would definitely pay it at the Paradise Pier. Has anyone stayed recently at either of these two? Did you use the concierge services at the Paradise Pier? How did that work out for you? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Well, Paradise Pier is as far away as HoJo. Farther if you walk all the way through DTD, past the movie theater, and along DLH as the signs tell you to do.

So there's absolutely no time savings by staying at PPH vs HoJo.

Staying onsite gets you Magic Morning each morning it's offered during your stay, which is nice.

Though if you're interested in concierge, I'm not sure the lounge is open early enough so you can be early for those MMs, thereby decreasing the helpfulness of having MMs available to you.

From what I've heard, concierge is basically waters, uncrustables (ugh), I think there's beer in the evenings, some little snacks at various points in the day, and that's all I can think of. Problem is, you have to be at the hotel to get those things (though you can take a couple waters with you and probably uncrustables, if you eat them, also).

I know that we don't go back to the hotel enough times to try to get our money's worth for concierge, especially since only I drink beer, none of us eat uncrustables, and we have to be careful with other snacks for various food issues along with being vegetarian. I'm not sure we could get enough waters per day to make it worth it! But that's just us.

I, personally, prefer to stay at hojo for a great rate and have extra money to PLAY with in the parks. We did stay at PPH twice, just last month was our second time, but that was b/c hoJo was almost the same cost as PPH with the AP rate! Magic Mornings won out for that trip, with prices just about the same.

I know nothing about DLH, other than their lobby is comfy for sitting and waiting for the Disneyland Express.

We stayed at the PP for the first time a month ago and have stayed at DLH at least once a year for the last several years (we are staying at DLH 1/24-1/31).

I agree with Bumber, PP is a decent walk and unless you plan on hoofing it back to the room often to enjoy the concierge benefits, it may not be worth it to you. The hotel is nice and smaller in comparison to the DLH. We had a very nice view room when we were there.

That being said, we always go to the DLH when we travel with DS. He enjoys the themed pool, jungle boats, koi pond and of course Goofy's Kitchen. We have always had a view of DTD and a very nice room when we have stayed there. I like that the hotel is also close to the monorail and we utilize this amenity a ton during our stay.
