Just curious it seems like a number of people only mention the other two Disney Hotels, we are booked into the Paradise Pier Hotel in a couple of weeks, please tell me I didn't make a mistake by booking this hotel?!! :guilty:

It's never a mistake going to DL, other then that I haven't stayed there, but a friend of mine did and said they had a wonderful time.

I tryed to get into there the first week of December, it is all booked up.
I thought it looked more 'kid friendly'.
And it is quite a bit cheaper. And it looks great

Have fun!

Thanks for asking the question... I'll be there in about two weeks and I noticed the lack of chatter about it as well! Oh well... guess we'll have to find out on our own! :)

It isn't as close to the park entrances (GC is in Downtown Disney, and DLH has the monorail). It is still a fine hotel, but it is cheaper and you do get what you pay for.

I have never stayedthere but on my last DL trip I walked through each of the hotels. PP looked very Disney and Kid friendly. The only thing I did not care for was that it was a few feet futher away from the other hotels. But for price I would take it! On my Nov 11 trip I'll be at DLH only because my friends booked it for me.

Hello fellow Disneyland lovers! I have stayed at all 3 Disneyland Resort Hotels. We stayed at Paradise Pier 1st because of the price. Here are the positives and negatives that we had on our trip.

Positives
We had DCA view and it was wonderful!!
Rooms are nice and big, nicely laid out
price was nice
Staff was very accomodating (gave us DCA view we paid for standard)
hotel was clean
parking close
"Secret" entrance to DCA was nice short walk

Negatives
Hotel is very far from Disneyland
There is not much to do other than dining or swimming
pool is very boring and quite small
Wasn't impressed with dining options
not as "kid friendly" as Disneyland hotel

Overall review, had I never stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, I would have happily stayed at Paradise Pier again (even over Grand Californinan, just didn't like GC)

However, Since staying at Disneyland Hotel, I would never stay anywhere else. It was only about $20 more per night than Paradise Pier, and it was worth much, much more. Paradise Pier is great, but if you decide to splurge on anything, I would strongly suggest splurging on the Disneyland hotel.

IMHO wherever you stay, if you're going to Disneyland, you'll have a Great time!
Enjoy!!

My main reason for staying away from Paradise Pier with kids is the lack of food options. For a quick meal, we'd have to walk over to DLH or GCH. I've stayed at PP and enjoyed it, but I was an adult on a business trip. I've kicked it around for this trip, but I hate not having a fast food option in the hotel.

Hey those of you who have stayed at PPH, how was your experience at Yamabuki, the Japanese restaurant. Would it be worth going to (we're staying at DLH.) Thanks.

I appreciate everyones input into the Paradise Pier, we are looking forward to the trip. It sounds like we made a good decision. The choices of food is not an issue for us the kids are not fussy about what they eat, and I am actually looking forward to trying most of the places in Downtown Disney. Thanks again!!!!

Well, I'm a DL veteran and I guess a Paradise Pier expert.

I first stayed there when it was a Pan Pacific Hotel, at a very very good rate... (less than the cost of a WDW lunch these days! :teeth: ) Back then it was great service, nice rooms.

After Disney took over, I stayed again. Rooms were ok, the only change was the Disney toiletries and a picture of Mickey on the wall. Not really any Disney feel.

Fast forward a few years. Booked Paradise Pier at a very good AP rate. Was upgraded to top floor, theme park view. Really enjoyed the views into the new DCA.

Stayed a few more times in a similar room. The rooms are still just ok, nothing too Disnified. Service is ok, but not overly magical. I've had mixed results at the restaurant over the years. The Japanese restaurant also doesn't seem as good as it was in the Pan days.

So overall, Paradise Pier gets an 'eh' from me. If it weren't for the view, I wouldn't have returned. And keep in mind that I've been upgraded each stay.

I may be overly critical, but I wouldn't pay full price for a regular room here. If you absolutely must be at a Disney hotel, and can get a discount, it's worth it, I suppose. Otherwise there are nicer rooms to be had in the area, albeit not Disney.

I think PP is the least "Disney" of the three, but sometimes the rate is phenomenal. We have stayed at all three and the Grand is the nicest and closest, but usually twice the price. PP majorly redid their rooms last year and they are more "beached themed", I love the lamps and comforters. I also love their view the best - DCA at night is beautiful. And the new pool with a slide is popular. Anyway, I don't think you will be sorry. We are staying there 12/14 & 15 and got a rate of $160 per night, not too bad so close to Christmas. We have paid under $100 per night a few times. Have a wonderful trip :flower:

Oh, and Yamabuki has very good food, a little overpriced, but hey, that's Disney, right? ;)

We loved the Paradise Pier hotel! While not as fancy as the GC, of course (which is our favorite) we were pleasantly surprised how nice it was--similar to a Sheraton, maybe. It was clean, well maintained, and we had great service! :sunny:

I stayed at the PPH this summer in July. Actually I stayed first at the DLH over the weekend and transferred over to the PPH during the week. I thought it was nice. Didn't check out the dining options but some people I met on the 50th went there for a character breakfast and seemed to enjoy it. I liked my room which was comfy, roomy, and laid out nicely. The pool is smaller but it has a water slide that an adult wouldn't feel foolish going down. I also liked the decor of the room. Not as Disneyfied as the DLH but just as bright and welcoming (beach/surf theme). The views are great and the glass elevator is fun to ride up and down in and view DCA. The "secret/private" entrance to DCA is no longer open but I could walk into DCA from the GC. Is is slightly further away from DL but you can still walk to the monorail and enter that way.
The staff was friendly and helpful to me especially when returning to LAX. And I thought the rate was reasonable for the week I was there. Liked the room safe better than DLH. I guess it is a matter of taste. :earboy2:

I like Yamabuki, but I haven't been there for several years. I used to go when there weren't as many restaurant choices (before DCA, DTD). It is good Japanese food, but not terribly different from what I can get near where I live. If you like Japanese, it's worth a visit.

BTW, I believe the "secret" entrance from PPH to DCA is no longer operational, but as a PPH guest, you should be able to cut through the GCH and use the GCH entrance to DCA. That should save some steps and some time.

It's not that bad you cross from the backside through DLH then through DTD 10 to 15 min tops you can also catch the MR as you pass right by it in you go the long way ( no cutting through parking lots). Remember like all else Disney in CA. it's being DTD is not as big or long of a walk as in WDW.If you have hopper opion you can also take the route of GC through DCA to DL.

Don't miss atleast 1 night of watching fireworks from Pooldeck great veiw.

It's just as nice as the Disneyland Hotel...we stayed there about two months ago. There is more of a walk to Disneyland from this Hotel...you have to walk across the street, thru DCA, thru Downtown Disney and then you arrive at the park. It's a nice little walk but not too much fun when you're tired or carrying lots of packages...

Okay, so instead of fighting the crowds in DL we can watch the fireworks right from the pool deck of the Paradise Pier where we will be staying? Is this correct?

WE have stayed at Paradise Pier twice. Learned on the second trip to walk across the street to the Grand Californian Hotel and go to Disneyland that way. We also go tothe California Advenure this way.
