I haven’t been to Disneyland since the new Maxpass system started. Can anyone tell me if the regular FASTPASS system has changed at all. If you use your ticket to get paper FASTPASSES does the machine still print out FASTPASSES to give the CM’s at the ride entrance or do you need to scan your regular ticket to redeem the passes?

No, the FP’s are now just a paper reminder of your time. You scan your actual ticket (or the barcode in your app) when you return. So you need to get FP’s for the right people, if you are doing rider switch or not everyone is riding.

Bummer, my kid will be marching down Main Street with her schools band and color guard. They will not have access to their actual tickets and are too young to have accounts on the Disneyland app. Their chaperone was going to get FASTPASSES for them and hand them off.

Will the chaperones have the tickets - if that is the case then they can get them fastpasses and then just give them their tickets. Also, your child could access your disneyland app - all they have to do is sign in - my kids did this plenty of time when we were there to use maxpass and scan their fastpasses at the ride.

Have him take a photo of the barcode on the ticket. This should work for use at the rides, if the chaperone get the FP.

You have to scan the physical ticket to get a FP. If the chaperone has all tickets and pulls FPs for everyone then they would do the ride together and the chaperone just has to go first with all the tickets to scan.

So no park hopping and the group stays together always? In that case it doesn’t matter if they get their tickets or not. And the FP stuff will be fine with the chaperone running it all. (Sucks to be that chaperone though because scanning dozens of tickets will be a pain in the rear.)

That said: If the kids are being let lose in the parks hopefully you can all talk down that chaperone down from this because hoarding the tickets (that I take it your kids paid for with fundraisers and what not and you might have even paid for?) is ridiculous. No one else can use their ticket since their photo will be tied to it. If they have a photo of the physical ticket and lose it guest services can replace it. Not allowing the kids access to FP takes a few hours of park time away from them if they are splitting out to do things on their own.

So the kids will be let loose in the parks, with set checkin times with their chaperones. I think the reasoning for not letting them have their own tickets, is because they are park hoppers and they don’t want them trying to leave one park and go to another without an adult.

Sounds like the only way for the students to take advantage of fastpass is if the chaperones hang out with the kids all day. Not sure the students or the chaperones are going to like that very much.
