PAP taking over our life :)

I has taken over my life as well but in a good way! We normally get APs every other year and take 3 7 day trips. We thought instead of 3 we would take 2 10-11 day trips to be able to utilize all that the PAP has to offer without feeling rushed. Well, we have since added another 7 day trip for next June and possible a 6 day trip next March (that would have to be cash ressie with AP discount :)) That would make 35 days at Disney in 1 year vs our normal 21. I have been in hog heaven trying to figure out all the planning. Also, we can not wait to try the waterparks and DisneyQuest as we have never gone to either. We may get hooked! Love my DVC!!

We already have been out there in Feb for a week end. Spring break for three days, one day in June, 4th of July weekend, August one weekend, Oct 1 day 4 days at Thanksgiving & 2 days New Years Eve!!! The Mouse is getting all our money!!

We too are planning either 3 or 4 trips .. 50-50 on dec due to AP.. and doing 4-8 days for extra PAP stuff.

We visited WP for the 1st time ever in April and will go again next month and possibly on our sept trip. 3rd time holding an AP.. prolly 150th day in DW parks just over the last 5 yrs.. and 1st WP day.

I think it worked in their favor for us. We went during spring break, and 2nd week in July very busy times and took us out of the MK/EPCOT 3-4 days. We also will be trying DQ in July.. and likely DQ and WP in sept (slow time.. ) and for sure again in Dec if between Christmas - NY. add another 2-3 days not in the main parks.

I wouldn't pay much more for it. Maybe 20$ or so PP every few yrs.. but on a regular bases.. as I would have a hard time justifying an extra 100$ for out fam of 4 to skip the MK and go to BB instead. I could pay the same 100$ and do a wishes dessert party, and spend the whole day at the MK, and break in the middle at the pool.. or drive to sea world, or spend nothing and visit the MK for the day free and still paly in pool there.. as I'd have an AP anyway. )

I think Disney wins on me getting PAP out of my annual days 35 ish this AP .. I will spend 6 else where (ish) and that is 24 peeps (6 days times family of 4) either at BB/TL/DQ instead of MK, (or better for them.. spending my $$.. off site. )

I do not know if they win on enough people. ... as some would pay the 100$ for it.. so giving it away for free is not cost effective for them. But if they did it again.. I would certainly take it again..

If owners respond by borrowing points and cramming more trips into the 366 day PAP window, then Disney really didn't gain anything. Without the PAP discount, the points still would have been used and trips taken over a longer period of time.

In fact, members may have ultimately spent MORE if they had spread out their purchases over a longer period, spent more on tickets, etc.

IMO, all the PAP discount really did for the theme parks is accelerate the revenue stream, encouraging more Member spending in 2013 and early 2014. They will pay the price in late 2014 and 2015 when Member trips (and spending) decline as owners have no more points to use.

The potential benefit to DVC is members adding points after they've exhausted their supplies. But not all members will do that.

I'm guessing that Theme Parks didnt mind forcing some attendance now at the expence of later for the opening of the new Fantasyland (the Mine Train will make up for the DVC drop) without looking like they were begging the general public.

The annual pass caused me to think I need more points. It also kept me at Disney parks and not other nearby parks. If they ever stop giving the discount I will check out all the other nearby parks and beaches or maybe just stay at the resort pool.

$425 was so last week ;)

DVC AP's are now $464 after the 2013 price increase.

Too funny!!

I haven't checked lately (due to the fabulous PAP) but they really went up that much!! Yikes! That was quite an increase and that is what we would have paid this November if we didn't get the PAP.

Makes me love my PAP and DVC even more!! :goodvibes

We're in the same boat here. We had already planned a trip to BCV for the F&W fest so it made sense to get the PAP. We had no plans to go in 2014, but since we have the pass..... COMPLETE CHANGE OF PLANS. Suffice it to say, we're still figuring it out, but 2014 will be nothing but Disney. All the other plans will need to be pushed back. Insane, right? Well, it's Disney. I guess I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

we were actually thinking of skipping a year and traveling elsewhere before they announced the PAP deal (actually, my family was thinking that - i was thinking of ways to sneak in some WDW getaways also :rolleyes1).

i convinced them it didn't make financial sense to skip "the year of the discounted PAP". at least that gives me some time to devise ways to both go elsewhere (probably italy - the real one;)), and still get my WDW fixes in.

we had AP's for years: still go about 10-14 days each trip, twice a year (plus a short bonus trip about every other year) - that hasn't changed.

DH activated his PAP on my birthday trip in February. I was on my AP then. I have a PAP voucher which I will activate in Oct. This means we planned a December trip to get more value out of his PAP. Hope that makes sense. He has some park days left on old non expiring tickets that he will use in March 14. The Mouse always manages to get our money :confused3

I'll get 4 trips out of this PAP they offered me!! Maybe 5 if I say "yes" to another...

Yes, the Mouse knew what he was doing!

We are borrowing points from our 2013 UY (we have a Dec UY) to use while we have our PAP. By the expiration of our PAP we will have made five trips to WDW.
