Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Welcome new cruisers!

I don't think I could leave DH for 14 days. I know a lot of people travel without spouses though. I am sure you and your friend will have a grand time!

So what events do we have planned for this adventure? And are there any plans for the group to meet up on the ship I seen something about a brunch at palo. Any plans for the Sail Away party.

That's us too. We frequently pick the same cabin over and over. At least we know where our cabin is! Although, this cruise is a different cabin for us. We also like one side of the ship. If we get the other, we keep going the wrong way out of habit, LOL!

It's funny how we are creatures of habit. Although we have not always had the same cabin (general area), we have gotten very lucky to always get a cabin with the bed and bathrooms on the left side of the room whereas my brother & sis-in-law get a room with the bed/bathroom on the right side of the room (by luck not be chosing a specific cabin). The 4 of us laugh how "backwards" the rooms seem with the bed/bathroom on the opposite side and we are so grateful that we've never gotten a cabin with the bed on the "wrong side!"

This trip is the first time we are doing a repeat room. 6080 was the room we had for our very first cruise on DCL. My DH really liked it so we decided to get it again.

There is a group brunch at Palo, but I know it was close to being at max capacity right after it was announced, someone verify me on that!!!

Right now no plans for the Sail Away party. On one of my cruises we tried to do something at that time and it just did not work.
A meet is being planned, CruisinLattas is working on that.

We also have a list going for the FE exchange
Another list for a Postcard/Recipe exchange
Also a list for a wine tasting which CruiinLattas is helping with the location.

If there is anything else anyone wants to add, as I have said "Have at it" and get the idea out there and see what the response is.

We're Terry and Larry and very excited about this cruise. This will be our third and we have had so much fun with FE. But, we don't know how to get on the list. Our daughter-in-law took care of it on the last cruise by Facebook. I don't do Facebook. Any suggestions?

It's official. My friend and I are booked! I cannot believe we are actually leaving our DH's home for 14 days! Looking forward to having a great time. We took the gty veranda. It was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Since DH and I just did an 8 day out of Galveston on the Magic, I had registered with disboards. My friend will join us here on the boards once she's had time to register. BTW...we did a gty for our Magic cruise, and we were just fine with the assignment. Hoping for the same with this cruise.

Have never done 4 sea days in a row, so that will be different. Have always wanted to do a trans-Atlantic, so this will be a good test run!

We are so glad all of you are joining us for this adventure.

Also, if there are any others that I have missed a welcome to, please know I am glad you are joining us also.

Remember all the fun things we have going on. I have the list for the FE exchange, the postcard/recipe exchange, the winetasting list (CruisinLattas is in charge of where that will be)
Cruisinlatta is also in charge of the Facebook page and coordinating a meet for the group.

Hi Terry & Larry, Denamo and Iminakilt, glad you are joining the group

Looking forward to seeing y'all at the various activities being planned. In addition to what has been mentioned in the last half dozen posts, there is a group linking their late dining; i have not seen a main dining linking group yet.

There has not been a lot of discussion yet regarding private port excursions, don't know if that may be due to the Mexican ports or if people just have not got that far into planning. Gold booking opens tomorrow so maybe when people see what is available through DCL that may spark further discussion.

I had noticed your name earlier in the thread and wondered, now I wonder no more. Yes, 3 months is a long time when you are waiting on a vacation to happen.

A friend and I are considering this cruise. Looks like we're pretty sure we will do it. Both of our hubbys have work obligations that won't allow them to go, so we are taking each other.

I really know nothing about LA. We would fly in the day before since it means flying halfway across the US. How far is the port from LA? What hotels are fairly close? Thanks for your help!

I read on tripadvisor that Prime Time shuttle picks you up at LAX and can take you either to the cruise terminal or Crown Plaza Hotel near the cruise terminal. I have stayed at the Crown Plaza before a Disney cruise and liked the hotel. They have free shuttle service to the port. I haven't called yet but I will be parking my car at LAX and taking the shuttle to the Crown Plaza the day before the cruise.

Well, we did it - booked the EBPC!! I've been looking at it for months but couldn't resist the VGT rates. This cruise is high up on my mom's wish list, so I'm bringing her for her 80th birthday (which is in August). It will be myself, Danae, DM Phyllis, DS Jonas (9), DS Carter (turned 6 twenty minutes ago)!!

I'm so excited!! I need to go back and read this whole thread so I can sign up for things, but I know I want to sign up for the FE.

I'm planning to fly to LA on the 12th and go to the MNSSHP, then somehow get to the port on Saturday from DL. Any suggestions? I don't want to rent a car as I am afraid to drive in LA!!
