Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

Thanks for the Birthday info...
We usually do the Tequila tasting (it's great!). You are more than welcome to join us there. Never heard of :confused3 the Champagne or Wine/Chocolate. We may have to check those out!

Tracy

Sounds great, I will take you up on that. I have only done mixology before and that was with a group from my Dis meets so I didn't have to book through DCL. Do you book in advance or once you get on board?

I have been following a TR from a woman who went on the WBPC this year. She posted about the wine and chocolate tasting and it looked pretty awesome. Here is a link:

She talks about it at post #171.

Anyone leaving out of Hobby on the 12:30 delta flight to Atlanta on the 28th.... If so check with Delta as the flight has been canceled and changed to 11:30 am. I've been on hold with Delta almost an hour now trying to make changes to another flight. Looks like flight for 1:45 pm out of Bush is best option for our connection. Next flight out of Hobby is 3:39 pm which misses our connecting flight to Orlando. About 50% of available seats have disappeared on both Hobby and Bush so if this affects you then you might want to take care of it ASAP.

Looking for transportation to IAH. Need to depart by 10:30 am at the latest on sept 28. Thanks for anyone who has room for 2 with 3 suit cases.

I thought that the ship didn't dock until 10am:confused3 and that there are often delays in Galveston because of fog, that doesn't give you much time to get off and clear customs. I would be stressing about the connection time.

I checked again it's 9:30am so I guess that gives you an hour :)

We've been on one of those cruises out of Galveston when upon arrival, we spent the day in the bay waiting for the fog to lift long enough for us to get into the port. Ours was a New Year's Eve cruise. This is more the time of year the fog happens. Hoping in late September that won't be the case.

It definitely made for a memorable end to that cruise.

We did a Disney cruise out of Galveston in May. It did take them quite a while to get everyone off the ship since so many were doing the carry off option. Our stated time for being in port on that cruise was 8:30 A.M. It was probably about 9:30 when we got off. Customs for that trip was a breeze since our last two ports had been Port Canaveral and Key West. This one will be more time consuming since we've not been in any US ports prior to disembarkation. Also, Galveston always seems to take longer to clear customs than other ports.

We also are getting to Hobby to catch a flight home, so our plan to is give ourselves a good leeway of time. Doing self disembarkation might be the best option if an early, rather than a later, flight is scheduled.

Well had all kinds of trouble finding a later flight that made connection in ATL so it was Detroit or walk, they ended up getting us on the direct flight out of Bush :cool1:

We have a 1:35pm flight and plan to leave port just as soon as we can get off the ship. :drive:

Well we can try for another shuttle together if you want. I think the one we were going to use goes there too. I checked the super shuttle and its $159 for the 5 of us. Let me know what you think.

If you tell them your flight time they usually put your party off ahead of others. Hopefully Galveston is the same. If not... That's what insurance is for right.... Lol

I did the chocolate tasting on my Med cruise last month. I thought it was well worth it.
Any of those tastings can be booked at Guest Services once you board. I'll probably be booking a couple of tastings on this cruise, although I don't know yet which specific ones. It will be my first stop once I board, though.

I finally snagged my flight out to LAX; I'll be arriving late Friday night, so I'll most likely be staying by the airport and taking super shuttle to the port the next morning.

That would make for a memorable cruise :) hopefully it's not going to happen in Sept!

Our flight is not till Sunday but we will be getting off ASAP so we can make it to lunch with friends :)

Sure, sounds good.

Randy,

Sent our payment via paypal moments ago!

To the Galveston to Houston Hobby Airport group:

We are all set! :thumbsup2

I have reserved a 40 passenger shuttle bus that will accomodate our group and all our luggage. The scheduled pick up time is 10:30am.

If there is anyone who knows a good place for all of us to meet after going through customs please let me know. I thought it would be easier to find the shuttle bus first and then as a group walk over and load up. I'm guessing it will be very hot and no fun to just be outside waiting.

I have put it on my credit card, so I am still figuring out the best way to gather the money from the group...I will let you all know. Thanks!

Tried to check reservation last night and this morning to see if cabin was assigned. Unable to access. Maybe that means they are assigning cabins! Anyone else unable to log in to your cruise reservation?

Update: Finally able to get into reservation, but no cabin assigned yet! :(

Hello everyone. I just wanted to check in. We have been busy. I am staying at my DD's right now and I am thrilled to say, Randy and I are proud grand parents of a baby boy. He was born early in the morning on July 21. He was 8.5 lbs and 21 and a half inches long. It going to be hard to leave him when it's time to go home.

I have always booked on board, but my daughter says she has seen the tastings all online, so, if they are available now, we will probably book ahead of time. She does NOT like Tequila so probably will not go with us to that one, but they have a lot of great ones to try.
Plus, just realized this is my 9th post! YAY! I feel like one of the group!:cool1:

Tracy :yay:
