Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

We thought we would try to do a few days at DL as we have never been either. By then, Carsland should be more calm. I would love to ride the Matterhorn.

I am of two mindsets concerning the FE. I would probably join in if it isn't as large as when I went on the Inaugural of the Dream. There were over 100 staterooms participating and with me flying, that might not work out too well.

I'm in for the postcard and recipe. Sounds like fun! I can think of a Cajun dish or two!

I agree 100 staterooms is way too big, that should have been split.
We had gone into ours with the mindset that we would split around 40. We did wind up with a few latecomers after 40, but not everyone added them. It was up to the person whether they added the new people and it work out great.

We really loved the postcard exchange. It was a lot of fun and it was hard to limit my choices. I think I would up giving out three, but most did one some did more.

Our plan would be to have 2 days in LA to make sure we had plenty of time for Disneyland and California Adventure. It has been awhile since we have been and we don't want to miss the water/light/laser show. Since we are trying to get out before April 30 to see the exhibit at the Reagan Library we may even get there before the cruise.

DW would love to see the recipe postcards and want me to cook each one, from our end some of these Scandinavian dishes may not be that popular with the rest of the country. We are used to down home southern cooking being from Memphis and Holly Springs. It might be fun for you all to see what we do have which is unique up here.

FEs are not big with us, we always have to fly and a 14 day means DW bag is full going and fuller coming back. On our Mediterranean cruise in 2010 we limited the number of exchanges so everyone had room to pack, that too was a very large one, two groupings of 50 something each, then of course there are the crossovers you just can't miss because they are from your home state, college or previous cruises.

Steve had a class in Memphis a couple of years ago and I went along to sightsee. I had the best time visiting the Pink Palace, the zoo, and Graceland.

We will do FE and/or postcard recipe.

Agree group should be split if it gets too big.

I've seen a "champagne girls" group on other trip reviews, where they dress in pink with boas, hats etc. That sounds fun too.

I would be up for the FE and post card exchange as long as we can split the group if it gets too big.

We have been to DL twice, back in '05 on our 1st PC cruise and again this past October before and after our MR cruise. Looking foward to seeing Carsland. CA felt so claustrophobic with all the walls that were up due to construction. We had a great view of CA from our room at Paradise Pier though!

It is fun to visit Memphis (except the dead of summer :sunny:) but I do have to admit I was happy to leave and remain happy with MN. Sure the winter can get cold but not always and they do an awful lot during the winter months including carnivals and parades,:jumping1: who'd a thought.

Welcome to all the new posters.

Our last cruise we had a private facebook page and a lot of activity on it, but we also had the thread since some people do not do facebook.

I wanted to know if anyone was up for an FE Exchange? I would volunteer to keep the list if we decide to go for it.

Another thing we did and it was seperate from the FE was a State Postcard/Recipe exchange. Most of the ones that did it were also in the FE, but there was some not in the exchange. We got postcards from our state and put recipes that were popular or significant to our state and it was a lot of fun also.

So let me be the first to say I am willing to be involved in both or whatever. Just chime in.

We would love to do the FE and postcard/recipe exchange. I have had friends that did the "champagne girls" group, but I have never been apart of it. I did buy my pink boa and shirt for it on the WBTA in 2010 but got so busy with other stuff that day , that I missed it.

Keeping a roll call on the first page is very helpful.

I will start keeping up with the FE and postcard list.

Hope all have had a good week so far.

We have had a few good rains which is so nice, but very rare for this time of year in Texas!!!

Yup.

Does that mean I need to edit my first post and add everyone? If so, I'll do that this evening when I'm on my laptop....on iPad now.

That's the bad news, having to go back several times between now and the cruise updating the list. On our Med cruise we posted a picture or the DISers emblem next to all the persons in the stateroom. It ended up being a great thing as we were heading to Barcellona we saw fellow travelers at the various airports and started visiting all the way over. I can point you to that thread if you want to see what I am speaking about.

HI Everybody,

I added a roll call to the first post. I gleaned what info I could from the thread, so please check your entry for accuracy and PM me or post with what else I should add. As you'll see, I put a bunch of info in our entry, such as room numbers and dinner seating. Do we want all that? Need it? Just keep it simple? Let me know!

Cheers.

You did good!!! That is how our roll call was done on our last cruise. We put as much info as that person would give. Names, cabin number, dinner seating, celebrations. . . a lot of editing, but being on the first page makes it easier to know where to look.

Carol and Doug, pahrumpgirl, booked the cruise today. I am sure my Ohio friends will be checking in soon.

Pam, have you booked yet?
