Is that a typical spread for the 11:15 PM Dessert Buffet? If so, I'm definitely staying up my next trip! ::yes::
Yes
Awesome pictures! the cakes look YUMMY! and are making me hungry as well!:)
:thumbsup2
Wow!!!!!! Incredible pictures! Thanks so much for sharing them!

I do think I saw you on the cruise- I just didn't recognize you! LOL
Yes I think we did meet, you were with others.:thumbsup2
Andrew great report & pictures! Thanks so much for allowing our family to spend a wonderful day with yours! Lunch by the falls was the absolute highlight of the day for me...well that & tequila tasting! ;) Too bad we didn't see you throughout the cruise. I know Cade met up with Stephen a few times & had fun as usual. We had a wonderful cruise, met a bunch of great people and had fun socializing with some fantastic Dissers such as yourself! :goodvibes
Thank you for joinin us, that was one of our best days, I would have liked to have brought my swimming shorts to have walked up thoose rivers.
Cade joined us for the Dessert buffet.
I really enjoyed your pictures, thanks for sharing them! :)

:thumbsup2

Andrew, Great report and pictures! It brought back many fond memories of our TOAL!

Was that a submarine at Cartagena? I missed that one.

Very nice trip report, Andrew -- as always, it was very nice to see you, and as always, at the end I always felt I had hardly seen you at all!

Perhaps northern Europe in 2010 . . .:thumbsup2

Firstly thank you for the boarding card again, it was a funny cruise in some-ways, I saw a lot of people who I haven't seen before and less of a few, who I knew more? if you get what I mean, I have some great conversations with many, I remember discussing Alaska with Goofyonthe highseas, in the Goofy pool, where else?

Europe 2010, well funny again we will see, I would love too, .....but....and the big but is....

School holidays, I will not take my kids out of school, if what I have seen is correct, then the Baltic is out and thats a big shame.

But I am hopeful there might be something late July or Early August, before the transatlantic back of interest in Europe. So we shall see, but no cruise before Mid July for me.

I think the biggest thing that affected how much we saw each other this year as oppsed to last was our different dinner seatings, which meant that we didn't see each other at dinner or at the shows as we did last year . . .

I haven't been able to closely follow the speculated cruises for 2010 -- will they not have a Baltic one at the end of July or early August? I know you are not interested in the 6 days at sea across the atlantic, but I didn't realize the repo was scheduled to be relatively early in the summer.

The Baltic schedule appears to allow for 4 x 12 night cruises, that could be wrong, but again could be dead right. Thats June and early July.

So the Baltic's will be over by our school holidays, if the information found so far is correct.

Now DCL seams to be a creature of habit, Every REPO so far East/West, Panama or Atlantic has left second week of May and returned during the second half of August. I think that will stay the same. So do many others.

One point is DCL makes most of its money at the destination, not on the REPO'S, IE in 2007 it made money IN the Med, and less on the repos, and the same this year the West cost 7 night trips make the money.

So cutting down the time in the Baltic means I think something else is also coming to fill the gaps either side, IE between the repos and the Baltic's.

I might go for that, instead, but we shall see, if that occurs, maybe they will just beef up the REPOS'

As you say 6 sea days in a row doesn't inspire me, but never say never, it depends on the itinerary. And I hope to cut the long plane trip for 2010.

Well, we will find out soon enough!!!!! Keep me posted on what you choose to do.

Tell me your plans and then you will find out!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OK,

IF...

I cruise it will be the same time as the 7/28/2007 Med cruise.

I would love to do the Baltic's, but on the port schedule I have seen its out.
I hope the Magic is going to hang about on Northern and Western Europe until August 14th.

I so I might go for a cruise.

But

No taking kids out of school, Alice is taking all her 16 yo exams at age 14, and
No flights to USA, (or one way, unless a really compelling itinerary).

I know -- I never have, and never will, take the girls out of school for a cruise or vacation, so I can understand that. I am very interested in the Baltic ports, and could cruise after the middle of June, but I will also have to look at what they have for the end of the summer (including a repo -- unlike you, I really loved those 6 sea days in a row across the atlantic!).

Andrew and Julie good to find you here together. I obviously have the same problem with the Baltic cruises. I'm hoping with you Andrew that something else fills the gap, but I have had a thought and please bear in mind that I do not follow everything the way you do Andrew so this could be complete rubbish. Someone on one of the threads about the current dry dock , made a comment about the Magic having another dry dock sooner than you think, I'm just wondering if for once they are going to break with tradition and go back earlier and have another Dry dock to maybe get ready for Alaska in 2011. It would have to be earlier I'm thinking because they'd also be dry docking the wonder at sometime if the usual schedule is adhereed to. I really hope that my speculation is all rubbish. What do you think Andrew you've usually got good knowledge of these matters

Ok, my two cents, do you really think, DCL will not book their most money making time of year for a dry dock? I think other rumors have indicated that part of the 2010 European itinerary will return to the Med with maybe the same or maybe different ports of call at the end of the summer 2010.

My booking limitations are that we have to be back by early August due to my youngest DDs college reporting time. I am waitlisted for late July although I could probably do an earlier cruise.

Thx again for sharing your trip with us, it was fun to read along!:goodvibes

I had wondered about an early drydock, too --if they retrofit the Magic for Alaska, they would need a lot more than a few weeks to do everything . . .

We'll find out in a few weeks!

Hello All

The Magic is having its dry dock now and is required by law to have 'two' in five years, so It might not need one in 2010.

Alaska has been applied for but not granted as yet, but DCL do plan far ahead.

The Baltic's should end about July 30th, if DCL stick to there usual REPO return date ( both types) it would aim to leave Europe on August 14th.

So time possibly for a 14 day Western Europe cruise down to Barcelona, but not around the 'Old' Med route imho.

Madeira, Lisbon, Cadiz, Gibraltar would be possible.

If there is dry dock it would most likely be the same time as this years.

The main thing they need for Alaska could be used in the Baltic as well, retractable pool covers, so maybe they will add this now, or before the Baltic to double up on its use.
