Pan Pacific Hotel

Some other downtown hotels suggestions in that price range for that weekend with availability...
  • Shangri-la
  • Hyatt Regency
  • Empire Landmark
  • Westin Grand
  • Marriot Pinnacle

Otherwise the Richmond airport hotels for savings with a $35 cab ride to the cruise ship terminal.

That's interesting. When I try the Hyatt (through their website), I get a screen that shows no availability, stating that it is either sold out or not yet available for booking?

I called the phone number for the hotel which is a USA telephone and for our august cruise, they said I couldn't start booking till January when I talked to the lady on the phone

You can always book that Hyatt room online with Expedia to secure your spot and cancel if you get a lower rate closer to your arrival date. Pay attention to the cancellation policies!

Did you call them? I cant find for July 18-20. Before the cruise. Then I need another hotel for after.
No, I booked through my airline (British Airways). I've just checked and there's still availability for my dates but unfortunately they are showing nothing for yours.

That's what I do, last time I booked the Sheraton Wall on a good rate where I could cancel without penalty and changed to Pan Pacific when I saw a rate I was happy with, this was either January or February.

I am cruising in May and ther was no availability at hotels.com..their website and Orbitz were close, but I had $28 in Orbitz rewards so used that and got it for $371(after all add on fees and such)..not great but not awful

How do you trust Hotwire? I dont like pay for a hotel that I don't know. They have a $295 per night on a hotel 5 stars near Canada Place.

You don't have to use Hotwire that way. You're allowed to specify a property. They just sometimes give better rates using the "hidden name" feature.

I've liked using Trivago lately. It searches all the other sites for the best price available at that place on that date. Keeps me from tab surfing :)

This was not our situation at all. We called the hotel directly in late June and booked 2 rooms at the Pan Pacific for our 5/29/15 pre-cruise night.

We requested and reserved the AAA B&B Pkg. rates of $219+tax for 2 adult, deluxe dbl and $244+tax for 3 adult deluxe dbl. (USD) Both rooms include breakfast.

To get the cheapest rates on Hotwire, you have to be willing to take that chance. I did a lot of research on the amenity list, approval ratings, etc to have the best chance at getting the Pan Pacific. At the time I was watching them, there were only two hotels in the 5-star category for that area and one of them included "indoor pool" so I knew if I saw that, it wasn't the Pan.

Luckily all the research paid off and I got the Pan for less than 1/2 of what it was listed for on the website. :thumbsup2
At worst case, you still end up with a 5-star hotel for a reasonable price.

No one pays rack rate! ;)

Location, location, location... perhaps not your average consumer, but for business doing an IAS conference.... yes.

These dates were not available last week, so it appears someone is doing some cancellations or the Panny is releasing small blocks of rooms a little at a time.

Any takers?

For me on those dates... I prefer rooms under $200 a night... save money for car rentals, shore excursions, or nice dinners! King Crab 3 flavours Chinese style!!!

We are on the August 10, 2015 cruise as well. I would love to hear when you find something. The Pan Pacific hotel looks really neat.

Just checked availability for that weekend. Empire Landmark and Holiday Inn has availability for under $200 on that date. Check out the reviews.

I was on the August 11th cruise this year and a lot of people in our cruise meet group were able to get the Pan Pacific in January this year on Hotwire.

I had another hotel booked and then just cancelled the original reservation when I was able to get the Pan on Hotwire.

It was so worth it to change to the Pan Pacific. The hotel was really nice and we were able to upgrade to a Premier corner room on the 19th floor. It was worth every penny to watch the Wonder arrive that morning and then dock right under the room :thumbsup2

How far in advanced did you book it?

I know, deep inside I know I should book a cheaper hotel. :sad1::sad1:
