Pampered Chef Cut N Seal

I little off topic, but I had a child that didn' like wheat bread too. I used to make the uncrustable sandwiches (with the PC sandwich maker) with the top side white bread and the bottom wheat. I figured he was at least getting some whole grain that way, but it looked like a white bread sandwich when he looked at it. ;)

I see. Yeah, I have one child who doesn't care for whole wheat, but he is also my child with a weight problem that just started about a year ago.

They don't get a choice anymore!

I have the opposite problem. Both of mine are considered "underweight", so I don't really fight it. They are 5 and 3 and are more interested in playing than eating. I figure I'm doing good if they eat the sandwich. The little smiley faces and such make them want to eat the sandwich, so that makes me happy.

I have also gotten some that cut the sandwich into 2 dinosars, and another one that cuts the sandwich into two hearts. They were a cookie cutter type thing that I found at the grocery store. They don't close up the sandwich, but still make it fun for the kids to eat.

I agree,I have the Pampered Chef one,I love it. It cuts better than any cheap one I've had.I've bought several cheap products, only to turn around and spend the extra money and buy from Pampered Chef.Honestly, the way the get the products ladies,to host parties! I've had so many House Party's and Book Party's! I think I own everything from them!

I also have a gallon size zip lock that I put the crusts in and when I have enough I make a large crock pot of bread pudding with carmel sauce and it lasts several days for desserts!

Oh my goodness, that sounds so good. Can you share a recipe for crockpot bread pudding??

I'm glad this thread got unearthed. I buy uncrustables for my kids. We do the honey/pb ones so a) you only get the 4 pks and b) they quit carrying them locally so I have to go either 30 min south or an hour north just to get them! I buy up a bunch at a time and do all my grocery shopping for the week there at the time but it still irks me. They are totally worth the money/effort for me, though, because my tiny six year old is a picky eater and this is one of the FEW things he will eat at lunch. Still, being able to send something he'll eat AND save some $$ would be nice :goodvibes I'd love to make my own but I have questions:

Anyone make with wheat bread, how did it work? Do you freeze them in individual ziploc bags or mass freeze in a big bag or container? How do you send them to school (I was thinking sandwich keeper so you don't waste baggies - my kids always toss them!) When you say a "circular blob" do you mean literally a BLOB or you make a circle just a little under the size of where it will seal it? I can see not spreading it all over if you are going to toss some of the bread..... I just don't know if it will sort of smush out the actual blob or if I still need to thin it out before cutting. I'm going to a town that has Walgreens AND Bed Bath and Beyond (can you tell we have NO retail here?!) so I can check, yea!

We make our sandwiches with wheat bread and haven't had a problem.

I have a large plastic cutting board (like 18' by 12"). I set out enough slices of bread to cover the cutting board, put the blob of pb and J on the sandwiches (yes a blob - it flattens out when I use the crust cutter), then lay down the other slice of bread, and cut. I have about 12 cheap-o "disposable" zip-loc plastic containers that I use to put one sandwich each in. I use one shelf in the freezer just for school lunches and fill it with sandwiches for the week and also sometimes their dessert (like no-bake cookies). It takes maybe 10 minutes to make sandwiches for the week and I can grab one plastic zip-loc container early in the morning to speed up packing lunches. It's about 4 hours from the time I pack lunches and the time the kids eat lunch at school; they say the sandwiches are thawed by that time and they enjoy them.

I purchased my Cut and Seal from ebay. It was a new item - no problems. Probably the best $12 I've spent on an ebay purchase.
