I'm glad this thread got unearthed. I buy uncrustables for my kids. We do the honey/pb ones so a) you only get the 4 pks and b) they quit carrying them locally so I have to go either 30 min south or an hour north just to get them! I buy up a bunch at a time and do all my grocery shopping for the week there at the time but it still irks me. They are totally worth the money/effort for me, though, because my tiny six year old is a picky eater and this is one of the FEW things he will eat at lunch. Still, being able to send something he'll eat AND save some $$ would be nice

I'd love to make my own but I have questions:
Anyone make with wheat bread, how did it work? Do you freeze them in individual ziploc bags or mass freeze in a big bag or container? How do you send them to school (I was thinking sandwich keeper so you don't waste baggies - my kids always toss them!) When you say a "circular blob" do you mean literally a BLOB or you make a circle just a little under the size of where it will seal it? I can see not spreading it all over if you are going to toss some of the bread..... I just don't know if it will sort of smush out the actual blob or if I still need to thin it out before cutting. I'm going to a town that has Walgreens AND Bed Bath and Beyond (can you tell we have NO retail here?!) so I can check, yea!
