Has anyone ever done palo's alone? I have two 17 year olds within 4 months of 18....I sure wish they would allow it......I hear such good reviews but hate the idea of missing it for a 2nd time......:(
Anyone ever gone alone and do you feel like you have no friends while your there?? lol

Thanks tracy

I, also, have never had the joy of Palo's, so I can't offer any advice. But when you get back, I'm hoping you'll post info about your cruise from the perspective of one adult with two teenagers. I'll be sailing March 5 with just my 17-and-a-half-year-old daughter, so I'm very interested to hear about what you have fun doing, both with the teens and by yourself. I see you leave in JUST ONE DAY :cheer2: , so BON VOYAGE!!

Hmm, that would be nice if your kids pass as 18 for Palo's.

Can I suggest (though maybe late due to your sailing this week!) that you hook up with some DisFriends? DH and I ended up (impromptu) having a Palo's dinner with several of the Disser's we met thru these boards.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP! And definitely, go ahead and enjoy a meal at Palo's either way!

I've never been to Palo for dinner, just brunch and have noticed several people there by themselves.

Go and enjoy. If your DD's look more like 18 than 16 (sometimes makeup and clothing makes a difference - go "elegant" and they're in) and you might be able to bring them along.

Good Luck and have a great trip.

See? All the more reason to stuff me in your suitcase!

I'd do it...although maybe brunch rather than dinner.

Have a GREAT trip!

My guess is that won't be possible. DCL has everyone's exact ages in their computer, confirmed against passports, birth certificates, and naturalization certificates.

They don't 'proof' you when you go to PALO's as they did to my DD when she tried to use the gym - we should have given her DS's KTTW as he has a 'uni-sex' name and was 19 at the time. But my 17 & 19 year olds were in our group of 10 at PALO without difficulty ..... they dressed and acted accordingly.

Tracy, I think you should definitely stop by the Palo's reservation desk and pose the question about your DD's joining you. Perhaps it would be best to have your daughters present with you. And if they say no, treat yourself to a few hours of luxury and book it for 1. The staff members are fantastic there and you will definitely not feel like you're eating alone. May I suggest that you choose a later time, either the first or second night. From my little experience, these seem to be the quieter times and your server can spend a lot of time with you.

Tracy, I would ask at the desk if they would allow the 17 yos to come with you. I always try to set a good example and I think it sends the wrong message when you try to "bend" the rules. If you ask are given permission, that's great. If they say no, then 17 yos are old enough to go to the restaurant by themselves and you can go to Palo. The servers are fantastic and will make you feel welcome.

Also check out your cruise meet thread and see if there's a cruise meet soon after you get on board where you could meet some of the Disers and maybe go with them. On our cruise a whole group of folks planned brunch together from the cruise meet thread.

I do Palo alone every time I cruise. What's the big deal? The servers are wonderful and you'll hardly have a chance to notice there's nobody kicking you under the table or eating off your plate for all the conversations you'll have with the CMs...

Actually, as noted in the other thread about this - they did to a couple I knew on my cruise. They had already been seated with their daughter, and had to leave because they apparently checked the computer and found she was 17. :confused3 And this couple even spoke to them beforehand to let them know about this, when making the reservation... I don't remember if they stayed and their daughter left, or if they all left - just that it was upsetting for them. :guilty:
