Absolutely! Folks who want to dress casual complain that the code is to formal. Folks that dress as prescribed don't say anything because they dress as anyone should in an upscale dining establishment. Poster #145 said "I still don't know what's the big deal of allowing jeans in palo". My response is - dress appropriately for a fine dining establishment instead of trying to make it a casual dining experience. If you want to dine casual, that's fine, there are other places on board to dine.
because I cannot resist pointing out the obvious, and, at the risk of being redundant:
the slippery slope rule applies here, too.
no shorts at MDR meant people wore shorts. Shorts allowed but no tank tops/bathing suit stuff means people have been spotted in just that attire.
It doesn't hurt anybody to wear jeans, to be sure. Clearly.
BUT, jeans at Palo will change the "feel" of the joint. There are fine restaurants near me with, as far as I know, no dress code but people enjoy the "experience" of upscale dining by dressing up a little...some dress up a lot!
There
IS, to be sure, something about having a more elegant social evening which reminds us of how our parents raised us, no elbows on the table, inside voices, polite manners, and no drink of the day or happy hour...
I understand people chastising that behavior and/or being uncomfortable in such situations...that's why dressing the Three Stooges in tuxedos and putting them in a "class" situation was always funny............
there are many other fine options which don't involve clothing concerns.
I don't understand the controversy here....
Hey you kids!!!! Get off my lawn!!!!!
