From what i have heard, too many people were complaining about not being allowed to wear jeans into Palo. Now if all of us who would like to keep it as it was complained maybe they would change it back? :)

Absolutely! Folks who want to dress casual complain that the code is to formal. Folks that dress as prescribed don't say anything because they dress as anyone should in an upscale dining establishment. Poster #145 said "I still don't know what's the big deal of allowing jeans in palo". My response is - dress appropriately for a fine dining establishment instead of trying to make it a casual dining experience. If you want to dine casual, that's fine, there are other places on board to dine.

Dear RRB. I am the one you are talking about as being poster #145. Did you just happen to read my other post I had posted earlier about why I think it's a good thing about jeans in palo. In my opinion I still think it's a good choice on disneys choosing. When I have gone to palo before I have dressed up. Maybe since they changed the rules now you could wear jeans also if you wanted to. As you said about it being casual now, if you don't like people wearing jeans then maybe you shouldn't go to palo anymore. I'm not one of the people who believe in I paid my cruise I should be entitled to this or that. But maybe Disney has a reason for what they did and maybe we will never know why they did. I also feel like you little comments above was an attack on me. I also said in previous post you shouldn't judge a person by their clothes, because what they are wearing could be the best thing they own. When I go back and the jeans rule is in effect then I will be wearing these. image.jpeg

In my opinion, unless they also change the shoe dress code, you're still bringing a nicer pair of shoes to wear with those jeans. Many pairs are just fine (Ljbadfan - yours look very nice), but it's the ones that look like you just came in from the playground or garden or football field that people are imagining. No one is going to wear their old knocking around jeans with stains and holes and then go to the trouble of bringing a dressier pairs of shoes to wear (in my opinion).

All that said, the only way that a dressier atmosphere affects me is that DH might complain that he had to dress up when the other table of people were casual.

I don't see Disney turning away people with casual shoes now that they are allowing jeans.

I guess I'm a little confused at the "casual shoe" assumption. Most men that I know already wear dress shoes with jeans when they go out. Even nice loafers look fine. To me a sport coat with a vneck tee shirt underneath, nice shoes, or a nice button up shirt, combined with nice jeans looks much better than most khaki pants combos.
Most women I know wear heels with jeans.
But also, most women I know will wear a dress as often as possible..and it doesn't look out of place or mismatched with a man dressed as I stated above.

The problem is that some will think these look good. Clean no holes.

And anyone who thinks those jeans are fine for Palo probably would have worn ill fitting khakis or dockers as well so it is the same problem. Allowing jeans doesn't mean men who were capable of dressing smart before suddenly won't be able to. As a pp said I often think my fiance looks better in a dark pair of jeans, a button up and a sport coat then when he wears a nice sweater with a polo and khakis.

because I cannot resist pointing out the obvious, and, at the risk of being redundant:

the slippery slope rule applies here, too.
no shorts at MDR meant people wore shorts. Shorts allowed but no tank tops/bathing suit stuff means people have been spotted in just that attire.
It doesn't hurt anybody to wear jeans, to be sure. Clearly.
BUT, jeans at Palo will change the "feel" of the joint. There are fine restaurants near me with, as far as I know, no dress code but people enjoy the "experience" of upscale dining by dressing up a little...some dress up a lot!
There IS, to be sure, something about having a more elegant social evening which reminds us of how our parents raised us, no elbows on the table, inside voices, polite manners, and no drink of the day or happy hour...
I understand people chastising that behavior and/or being uncomfortable in such situations...that's why dressing the Three Stooges in tuxedos and putting them in a "class" situation was always funny............
there are many other fine options which don't involve clothing concerns.
I don't understand the controversy here....
Hey you kids!!!! Get off my lawn!!!!!

So everyone who is against jeans in Palo would be against this look? This gentleman looks pretty well dressed to me even with his slightly worn in jeans. Actually better than some of the stuff I have seen in Palo.

That's what I'm talking about. Even without the vest..nice fitting denim with nice shoes and a nice shirt or jacket is much more "dressy" to me than non tailored khakis.

This is the problem with society generally. Those people who want to over turn the status quo are always louder and more (sorry judgemental word :scared:) annoying than those who are happily motoring along. How many people wrote on their comment cards "please keep Palo upscale!" ? Probably nobody.

I don't mind either way. TBH I am surprised so many people are assuming guys are going to be the "problem" with jeans... I hate wearing khakis personally. They are less forgiving to my wide hips and womanly rump. ;) I've always defaulted to dresses but now that jeans are allowed I have more options to keep my luggage lighter. That said, Disney does listen, so maybe now more people WILL write in their comment cards how disappointed they are..?
