I am interested in the new PalMickey program, Anyone try it yet?

I would also love to hear about Pal Mickey...we are going in April and are thinking about buying one.

We love ours... the only problem is who gets to hold him, our DS 9 or one of us parents! Pal Mickey is adorable and very useful. He vibrates when he has something to say in the parks and he wil repeat it several times (good feature, because we like to pass him around!) He talks about anything from how to say "hello" in French when you walk by France, to how long until the next parade, to "there's a short line at Test Track right now", to interesting animal facts in the Animal Kingdom. In addition, he tells (horribly corny) jokes and plays games with various levels to help pass the time when you are standing in lines.

6/day to rent...you get to keep him overnight, has to be returned by noon the next day. If you decide to keep him, remaining 54.00 will just be automatically charged to your cc...he can be retured to any WDW rental location.

we bought ours and the kids even play with him at home - besides the jokes there are also a couple of small games that they play - we cant wait until our next trip to use him again - like parkhopper both the kids and the parents want to hold him so it was hard to share - but he was incredibly fun and informative

My husband and I got one on our last trip. He was cool to have around. He did tell corny jokes but we laughed (he busted on Goofy A LOT).

On tip, we found that it was easist to carry him with a bottlestrap slipped around his neck. This made it easiest to pick him up and hear what he was saying in the parks. I'm quite sure that disney wouldn't market this way because it's kind of like a Mickey noose but it works really well.

DW got one on our trip last week. It was for the kids ;) but she used it all week.

I thought it was cool. Mickey does tell corny jokes, but it is fun to learn things about where you are. We were meeting the green army men, and it told a green army man joke, etc. It also told you when the parade was starting or that the line for Winnie the Pooh was short, etc.

We bought a pin lanyard and attached it to that. Worked really well for us.

We put ours on a bottle strap under his arms. The hardest part was for my youngest DD(6) to remember to keep walking when she listened to him!! She caused a few traffic jams the first day!

Pal Mickey's not just for the kids! We took turns on our last trip and I got to carry him arround almost all day at one park. It added a new dimension to the Disney experience. I'm sure it looked kind of funny for a 37 year old man to be walking arround with it though! :p

I will be there for 5 days in Sept (no kids) But Pal Mickey is somthing that sounds real neat. How much does he cost to rent for the day. Or If I will have him for 5 days would it be just as cheap to buy him.

I put a ring through the "eye" in his zipper tab (I removed the stub of a ribbon)...That way I could attach him to a lanyard around my neck and the ring makes it easier to zip him up. I think I also turned his clip around so it wouldn't pull out of its holder.

Does anyone know if Pal Mickey can be put in rooms before arrival? I would like to have one waiting in the room for my nieces and nephew and for my granddaughter.:scratchin
Just trying to think of ways to get the Magic started!

We were able to get one in our room waiting for us when we arrived last summer. We were staying in concierge so that might have some bearing. I would call the resort and ask, I'm sure they would be willing to see/setup one for you to wait for your arrival.

It's probably only concierge...my DF called a few weeks ago hoping to have them in the rooms for her DDs and they said they couldn't. But, call back...you could always get a different answer!!

We bought pal mickey last trip and we took turns carrying him (ME, DH, DS6,DS8) He was or is great. We will be bringing him back, I am wondering if he needs to be reprogrammed or if he will know what is currently happening? Any ideas?

On our last trip in December my DD 7 and DD 8 both bought one with their own money!! DD8 liked it more than DD7. I thought it was cool. DH doesn't know it yet, but one is coming back with us on our "adults only" trip in May!!

Great idea about the water bottle strap!

Can you buy Pal Mickey anywhere at Downtown Disney? We are going there our first night and I'd like to pick one up before we head to the parks. (We are staying off property the first night).

Just stop anywhere that PM is sold and tell the CM that you're a returning guest. If your PM needs an "overhaul" they all have the screens that they touch him to and then the new info is downloaded. Sometimes PM "reboots" himself when you take him into the parks.

How does PM work? There is a receiver chip in his nose that "grabs" the info that is put out by poles located in each of the 4 parks. When you buy a PM you should be told, like I was, that it's necessary to have PM facing forward as you walk around or else he may not pick up the signals being sent to him. When he gets a signal he vibrates like heck. So be careful where you have him against your body because I had him hanging off my fanny pack once and, BOY, did I get a surprise!
