PalMickey... everyone should get one!

When I first read about pal mickey a few weeks ago i didn't think i wanted one. After reading all the comments here I told DH about it & we both agree it would be great a suprise for GS.

OK..I'll admit it......I WANT HIM TOO! :)

My parents (Nana and Pop-Pop) are going to give my 5 year old Disney Dollars so that she can purchse her own MPM. We have PS at the 1900 Park Faire Character meal on the night of our arrival, so we'll probably buy it in the GF that evening. Does anyone know where if the GF we can purchase him and how late the shop is open?

I don't suppose they have these in Disneyland:rolleyes: . I guess I'll have to wait until August to get one after the cruise.

Only at WDW now...

$8 per day to rent, and they will apply your rental fee to the purchase price if you decide to buy...

Some of the jokes he has told at home we heard in the parks, some we didn't. He may not have a "million of 'em", but he might have a hundred or more. (note, he doesn't vibrate at home, since there is nothing to send him signals....you just press his hands or tummy)

You "might" be able to get them to put it in your room before you arrive, if you make a special request... I know they will deliever a stuffed animal and balloon if you want one delivered for a birthday, so they might also deliver a Pal Mickey... Wouldn't hurt to ask.

He clips onto either your belt or fanny back, which makes him pretty easy to carry around...

Word of caution... keep track of him, especially if you let the kids carry him around... It can be easy to just put him down in a store (especially for kids) and forget about him. That could be 50 bucks down the drain...

I'm hoping for a "Pal Donald".... one of the games could just be trying to figure out what the heck he's talking about!

Has anyone heard...will there be other pals in the future? They need a girl pal for our little princesses.

Tammy-

My little girl is 5 and she is quite the Princess fan. She thinks this entire vacation is centered around the Princesses. This is her first time going to WDW and she is too excited. She has already pronounced that she doesn't like Winnie the Pooh, but will pretend to like him if he talks to her since she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. I don't think she cares for Mickey much either, and I'm hoping the My Pal Mickey will chnage her mind on that. WDW is sooooo much about Mickey and it seems like a shame when the child could care less and only wants to see Cinderella and Belle. We'll see if My Pal can win her over.

There are four excited people in this house right now!

My DD is 5 too. She's the same about the princesses. Maybe your right PalMickey just might win her over.

Oh MY, 10 hrs and counting for you....Have a wonderful time!!! we don't go until Dec.

Did anyone have any problems with the belt clip or with mickey falling off the clip? This was mentioned by one of the posters in the article on debs site, others on there said they had no trouble with it.

Yes, we had trouble with the clip coming off. Had it clipped to my daughter's backpack strap. It came off without her realizing it while watching the TV at the Exposition Hall. She realized it when we got on the bus back to the resort. I immediately called and tried to track it down (thank goodness for cell phones and nationwide long distance!). We got very lucky. The CM there saw it and picked it up, then when I called looking for it, she brought it to our resort as soon as she got off work since we weren't going back to MK that day and wanted to take him with us to Epcot. Needless to say, I made sure her supervisor knew what she had done on her own time, and wrote her a thank you note with nice tip! I just wish I knew of another way to let it be known what a special CM she is! I never even got to meet her and thank her personally because she only worked on weekends.

Just read on another thread where someone used a bottle strap to carry pal mickey with. said they put it around his neck and this make it easy to keep track of, & listen to him when he had something to say. I got a free bottle strap when i ordered a book from passporter, Just packed it. :)

If you use the clip at the beltline, and make sure the clip is properly attached to your belt/hip pack, and that Mickey is placed completely on the clip, it shouldn't be a problem. Also, if he does fall, you be likely to notice him because he'll fall on your leg/foot, and you won't feel him on your belt anymore.

If you use the clip on a backpack, or in some other way where Mickey is not vertical, I could see were he could fall off. (That also makes it easier for a "less than honest" person to liberate him from your possession...)

The bottle strap should work well.

I would LOVE a Pal Pluto but will settle for Mickey if that is all there will be for a while. ;)

We were actually told that you should not clip PAL Mickey on the back of your back pack as he needs to be facing forward to get most of the updates and the queues to say something.

Just a thought and note.

I have a question about Pal Mickey that I hope doesn't sound awful. If I rent one for a day and decide we like it well enough to buy it, do I buy the one I've been carrying around (that's been through many guests hands), or do I get a new-in-box one?

Thanks,
Peggy

Actually my daughter's PM was clipped vertically in front on a strap and facing forward between her shoulder and elbow. She could also hold onto him there. It was actually a very convenient spot where she could hear him without having to move him. I think it may have loosened while she was sitting/getting up while watching the videos. She was extremely careful and took great care to make sure he was always clipped securely after she got him back. Next trip, we'll also use the bottle holder as a safety backup.

Peggy,

Actually no they will take back the rental and sell you one that is freshly unboxed. At least this was our experience.

;)
