PalMickey... everyone should get one!

We are just back and bought Pal Mickey as soon as we arrived at CR! He was a hit and we all took turns with him. CM's really gave us attention as they had not seen a lot yet. DD got a kick out of showing him to Mickey at 'Ohana's character meal! Mickey played with Pal Mickey:p ! He was worth the $50!

Where can I get one? Is it sold outside the parks? I would to buy one before I go to WDW. Thanks.

We also love our Pal Mickey! We got one for your 2 1/2 year old daughter and she loved it when he would shake and start talking. The games and jokes are cute and he told us to try certain rides that didn't have lines. He gave tidbits of info about the buildings on Main Street as we walked by them. We didn't have any trouble at all with the clip or carrying him. He would remind you he couldn't get wet at Splash Mt. and was very cute at the Tower of Terror. My daughter still plays with him every day and we've been home from WDW for almost a month now! She loves hearing him talk. CM's would stop and play with him if they noticed we had him. They were very interested in him. Pal Mickey added a lot of fun to our vacation! :D

Pal Mickey sounds cool. I am sooooooooo gonna have to buy one :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Okay, so I am pretty convinced that I want a Pal Mickey, but I am a little confused about what he does outside the park.

He sounds like a lot of fun when you're in the parks, but does he still talk once you bring him home? What does he say?

He will play games with you, tell his corny jokes.....

So my question is, exactly how much information is stored in him? When you bring him home, is it the same jokes, games, as he told at the park? And how much time with him home, does he start repeating the same information?
Wonder how well he will have to do, before they consider, bringing in Minnie mouse? That would be really cute, especially for all those princess's out there. ;)

There is also an "off" button. DD has been sleeping with him since we returned!

12 inches seems a little big to be dragging around the park. Is he really that big?

DD's (12 and 15) and I bought a PAL Mickey at BC last week and we had a blast with him. We actually fought over who was going to carry him from time to time.

When we crossed into Epcot and crossed the bridge into France he even told us that this bridge was the best location in the park to watch Illuminations.

When we went to MGM on Friday June 6th he told us about the two Star Wars Stars that were there that day for autographs and told us that we should go to Star Tours because the wait time was only 5 minutes.

What I have been able to determine was that his nose is the infrared reciever and he gets signals from little 4 x 6 inch boxes hidden in the corner of buildings, trees and poles. There are several of these boxes throughout the Queue line for the safari at AK.

It was interesting carrying PAL Mickey around he was a wealth of information and the CM member that I talked to about PAL mickey at the Cinema at MK said that there is more to come.

We only had one problem with him when he started sputtering garbage and we took him back to the Cinema in MK and they reprogrammed him for us. They told us that he does not always need to be reprogrammed for each park. Carry him face forward as you enter the park and he will download the new information for that park for the day as you are entering.

I found PAL Mickey a lot of fun.

I would like to know if I can get my DC 10% off. Thanks!

Okay, so my question is: Is he good for multiple trips? Can I buy him in September 2003, and then take him back in May 2005, and he'll still be usable? I assume he's got a computer inside him that is update when he enters the park. Am I right? I'd hate to spend $50, and then find out he's no good on subsequent trips.

BabyMo - 12" really isn't that big. He is like a smallish stuffed toy - bigger than beanies, smaller than a "normal" stuffed toy.
He isn't very heavy as well.
tc - yes, he is supposed to be good for multiple trips. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they use the GPS tracking system for him, therefore he can pickup new information all the time. The only thing I can see is updating the technology, which wouldn't necessarily mean the "old" ones won't work - it may be that the newer ones (ie. 2005) might be different.
I hope this helps.

FRANNN,

I was disappointed that NO you could not buy them at DD World of Disney. They selectively placed them at the Toy Store there though.

So to answer NO 10 % DC or AP discount.

Later,

I will definately purchase Pal Mickey for my upcoming trip. Do you think there is any chance that I can "pre-purchase" him and have him waiting for me in my resort room?

I would love to surprise the kids with this. I just can't wait!

We bought a Pal Mickey on our trip last week. He is a bit of a pain to carry around but is fun. I ended up latching him on to my fannypack. Be warned he goes off in some strange places at times. LIke with me in the middle of HM. That mouse scared the beegeebees out of me LOL:p he started viberating on my leg in the middle of HM and I had forgotten about him. Gave my Dh and the kids a big laugh at me jumping when he went off!!!:p :p :p

If it's only in Once Upon A Toy, this is the only discount I could fine for AP holders going in July:

"Christmas in July Shopping Discount - Here's a special present just for our Annual, Premium Annual and Seasonal Passholders. Just when you thought it was safe to put the wrapping paper away, Santa Goofy goes and makes a mistake. But it's a good one because during the Downtown Disney "Christmas in July" event, you'll get to enjoy your 10% World of Disney discount at Disney's Days of Christmas, Disney's Wonderful World of Memories and the new Once Upon A Toy store as well."

This was on Deb Wills site. Her site is the best!
