Ok, I admit it... I'm a bit of a child when it comes to the Disney toys and gadgets. But yesterday at Epcot I rented a PalMickey just to give it a try and see what it was all about. Pretty magical if you ask me. I clipped Mickey on to my belt loop, and he would vibrate and giggle (no comments from the peanut gallery ;) ) anytime he had something to say. He was quite the talker as we walked around the World Showcase, he even told me things that I didn't even know were there. Mickey told me about the hedge maze in England, gave my some tips and facts about Canada, taught me how to say "hello", "goodbye" and "how are you in French". He also told me that Alladin and Jasmine were somewhere in Morocco greeting guests and we should go find them. In Japan Mickey had me on an adventure hunt to find the woman that makes animals out of candy. He just kept talking all through the World Showcase with some interesting trivia, tips, and of course the lame jokes. Needless to say that when it came time to return him after the rental, I bought my own. Can't wait to use it at MGM today. The CM that was selling him to me informed me that Mickey is actually "afraid" of certain rides in the parks and has been known to say things like "Ohhh... so we are going on Splash Mountain huh? Ummm.... ok" and sounding nervous the entire time. Now that is Disney magic.

Did you get to apply the cost of your rental toward the purchase of a new one?
Heading there later this week and DD(me too:o ) wants one!

It sounds cool! I want one but the only problem is I don't think i would want to carry a mickey "doll" around in the parks. But i still might get it, it sounds really cool!

Yep... we had only used it for a couple of hours, so the purchase of the new one was almost the same as the inital downpayment.

I didn't mind at all, he comes with a belt clip and I just clipped him on to the belt loop on my shorts. He just hung around giving tips and the like.

Just back from WDW and saw several adults with pal Mickey. I considered buying one myself, for grama, but we were unable to be in the parks for as long as I wanted, so I passed on it. Maybe I shouldn't have been so quick....More details, HMfan. :D

Thanks for the excellent "review" of Pal Mickey. Was thinking of renting one for my nephew in November, but now I want one for ME!

Thanks for the report on this.
I sure hope they still have these (and in good supply LOL) by the time of our family trip in Nov!

I'm torn between renting 3 (so each child can have one) or buying one and it would basically be the youngest child's but the others could listen too. I'm just not sure if they'll fight over it- yet I don't want to BUY three. But then renting would be costly too if I rented at each park! Decisions decisions. But we're definitely going to end up buying one it sounds like..... maybe I should just break down and buy three. LOL The youngest would like it the most I think- plus in a stroller it'd be the easiest to keep up with. The other two children might lose it or something.

Anyway, sounds great.... now I wonder if I'll enjoy it the most. LOL

What is this? where do I get one? and how much is it?? Rent or buy? Thanks!!

We bought one a few weeks ago at CBR. My favorite "Pal Mickey" moment was right after we finished "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" As soon as we left the attraction, Mickey said " I am glad that is over. I thought that snake was going to eat this mouse". It was classic !!!

Definitely worth it !!!

...and I plan on buying ONE Pal Mickey to share!! There is no way that I could ever justify buying more than one - plus, do you want to be stuck carrying around more than one when the kids decide that they are too hot and don't want to hold Mickey anymore?? You just KNOW that we will be the ones with Mickey on our belt at some point.......;) :D

I read on another post that if you squeeze Mickey's hand after he says something, he will repeat it (I think the time frame was something like within 15 seconds) - that makes him much easier to share - just pass him around so everyone can listen.

Hauntedmansionfan - did you find it hard to hear Mickey?- several others have posted that you have to hold him up to your ear in order to hear what he says. I'm going to have to buy one for my "almost here" granddaughter and 'help' her play with him (since she'll be too young, of course!):smooth:

bjakmom - yes, you are correct. Mickey will repeat what he just said up to 5 times if you squeeze his hand within 15 seconds.
That is a really good point for those who are buying and will be sharing him. DS and DD shared ours with no problem.

Pal Mickey sounds really cool. We'll be renting him in a douple of weeks (probably buying him too!) BTW, is he available at AS resorts?

Laura- yeah, that is what I was thinking too (although they won't be hot at Thanksgiving- will they? We're in Texas now- I'm thinking it will be either cooler there then- or at the very least the same temp as Texas??). but you're right- I'd probably end up holding atleast one of the older children's if I bought 3. Problem is that what if I end up liking it as much as my kids? Okay so the "re"saying it in 15 seconds is a good thing. Maybe I'll just get two- so one can be mine. HAHAHA

Yes, he does repeat himself if you press his hand. He can also play games and all the like.

Depends on where you are. I noticed that in areas where there was a lot of other noise going on, i.e. the band playing in Canada, the only thing that clued me in was that Mickey vibrates also. But in areas where it was a little quieter I found it easier to hear him.

Headed to MGM and possibly Epcot again, so I will have to see and report what he says tomorrow.

In most of Mk we had to hold Pal Mickey up to our ears to hear him, but in almost all of AK I was able to hear him from my belt. We were in Mk on a very busy Sat. We tried to get him to say things inside some of the rides and shows, but he would not work.... which is a very good thing. He is nice and light weight and compared to the camera bag I had to tote all day long he was as light as a mouse. His belt clip worked great and I think he unclipped maybe once. There were a couple times I thought I left him somewhere, when he was on my beltclip, that is how little I felt him.

The All Stars did have them as did the parks. Downtown Disney did not have him yet I think they said sometime in June.

I was told so far there are more things for him to say in AK and Epcot, but they are working on MK and MGM. He did not do too badly in MK, he did seem to tell quite a few more jokes there. The resorts like the poly and GF and cont are also getting sensors for him.All in all myself at 23 and DH at 31 loved our pal mickey. I can not wait to take him back and try him out again, and at the other parks.

Pretty good reviews! I skipped over Pal Mickey because of the price (I didn't realize you could rent instead of buying it). Ah well... at least I'll have something to look forward to on my next trip. :p

I'm excited! I can't wait to get Pal Mickey for my ds (ok, me too!) in September. How large is Pal Mickey? Ds will still sit in a stroller, so it's not a really big deal. Just wondering if he's the size of a beanie baby or a regular stuffed animal.:D
