Palin: Why boycott the press?

Oh come on now. If she had produced a BC of Trig, how many of you would be screaming it's a fake or something similar? I don't care if she did "throw her family out there", kids and grandkids should be off limits! Something the Democratic supporters can't seem to grasp. By the way, I would be just as upset if someone had done this to the Obama girls.

If? If the queen had cajones, she'd be king.

Instead of trying to shield her family from the press, Palin threw her daughter out there front and center.

To get the heat herself, Palin reached for the easiest target she could find, her daughter.

You're right, maybe Trig's birth certificate wouldn't have shut everyone up. But it would've gone a long way. It didn't happen because Palin used her daughter's "delicate condition" instead.

Geez, maybe this is another indication of Palin's lack of judgement.

People who want to keep their children under wraps and away from the press manage to do so. Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis managed to do it in the heart of NYC. The Clinton's managed to shield Chelsea. The Carter's found a way to keep Amy from the press.

Palin uses her family as a prop and then complains when they become part of the story.

No I'm not. Obama came out and said that candidates children are off limits. But that hasn't seem to stop any of his supporters on here or else where, the media or comedy shows that seem to support him. It has completely turned me off from this election. If they want to go after the candidate that's fine, go for it. But leave the kids out of it!

People on these boards keep talking about how her children and family were "attacked", but the only place I see anybody talking about her children is here on this board. I saw a clip on The Daily Show where Bill O'Reilly said some kind things about how as long as nobody had to support the mother, baby or father than it was a personal issue (which completely contradicted his comments when Jamie Lynn Spears announced her pregnancy and he called her parents "Pinheads") but that bit was about Bill O'Reilly's hypocrisy, not Bristol Palin being pregnant.

Other than that, that's pretty much it. The candidates can't be blamed for what their nutty supports do or say. There are many Republican and Democratic supporters on these threads that would be an embarassment to their candidates, if they were to see some of the nonsense and filth that they spew.

I agree. I keep seeing the same statements also--that her children have been attacked. I know there was the whole pregnancy thing in the beginning, but other than that, I haven't heard another word. I kept thinking, after reading here, that I just must have missed some other controversy. I hardly watch the news so it's definitely possible. Glad I'm not the only one left wondering. I really don't think Palin's children have had any harsher treatment than Chelsea Clinton got. Gosh, I remember so many years ago when the Clinton's were in office, someone was ragging on her appearance because of her wild hair and her gawky pre-pubescent looks.

I expect nearly everything she does in an official capacity from now until the election to be covered by the press. She is news. She is running for "understudy". It is an important job. If she was savvy, she could use these opportunities as photo ops for her benefit. I do believe that the privacy of her kids should be respected, but Sarah Palin is fair game.

This is what I agree with.

As I said, I don't like Palin's politics. I don't want to hear about her daughter or her family any more. I don't agree with how that was handled.

But she is running for VP. SHE, Sarah Palin, is fair game. I guess now I'm wondering...is she that unprepared? I thought her refreshing change was what the McCain people wanted. Now it appears that yes, she's being sequestered until she has her story straight on all issues.

But as someone pointed out...can she do that in 6 weeks?

I guess I'm more of a "let's just get it out in the open" type person. I hate the whole beating around the bush...and that is not an attempt at any kind of pun, I promise.
