Palin: Why boycott the press?

No I'm not. Obama came out and said that candidates children are off limits. But that hasn't seem to stop any of his supporters on here or else where, the media or comedy shows that seem to support him. It has completely turned me off from this election. If they want to go after the candidate that's fine, go for it. But leave the kids out of it!

I think it is because she is ill-prepared for the media. She knows it. The McCain campaign knows it. And those in the media know it, which is why they are really trying to be the first to get her to stumble. Not that I have a problem with that. She is also ill-prepared and underqualified to be VP.

I agree. And the longer they wait the bigger and higher the expectations grow. I'm wondering if they can put off talking to the press completely. we're now exactly 6 weeks from election day. On the one hand, some people won't accept the no questions stand and will vote against McCain/Palin. On the other hand, many seem to have heard enough to be completely sold and will vote McCain/Palin regardless of her answering any unscripted questions. I'm wondering if the campaign is hedging their bets to see how long can they wait and how tightly controlled of a message will the American people accept. I guess we'll see Nov. 4th.

While I agree with you that the press should, as a matter of common decency, leave her kids out of it, I don't think that's good enough reason for her to avoid the press. Part of running for elected office is engaging in dialogue with the electorate, and the media is a big part of that. She can't just keep reading from scripts and expect people to feel like she's qualified for the second-highest office in the country.

I would suggest that the treatment the Palins are receiving is anything but new.

If the press treated you the way they treated her and her family, would you want them breathing down your neck also.

If she allowed the press, you all would be saying, look she is using it as a photo op, now she doesn't want to allow the press, you all are blaming her for that.

It's sad if any party associates the world of politics with the way Palin's family has been portrayed.

Last time you looked??? Have you read any history about the Truman Presidency? There were members of the press (and the public) who hounded President Truman's daughter, Margaret. Truman threatened a couple of them.

I expect nearly everything she does in an official capacity from now until the election to be covered by the press. She is news. She is running for "understudy". It is an important job. If she was savvy, she could use these opportunities as photo ops for her benefit. I do believe that the privacy of her kids should be respected, but Sarah Palin is fair game.

Geez, you would think the press was portraying the family as having a pregnant 17 year old getting ready to marry a guy who revels in being a ****ing redneck who doesn't want kids? Oopsies.

Palin threw her own daughter under the bus when she told the world Trig couldn't be Bristol's baby because Bristol's pregnant now.

All Palin had to do was throw Trig's birth certificate into the face of whoever started reporting the Trig story and kept Bristol away from the press.

But, not little Sawah. This was much easier on the family.

Oh come on now. If she had produced a BC of Trig, how many of you would be screaming it's a fake or something similar? I don't care if she did "throw her family out there", kids and grandkids should be off limits! Something the Democratic supporters can't seem to grasp. By the way, I would be just as upset if someone had done this to the Obama girls.

What in the hell does Palin's family have to do with her ability to meet with World Leaders and the press covering it?

I didn't see her husband or her children anywhere near the UN.

Speaking to World Leaders is exactly what the press should be allowed to cover.

Thanks...and acknowledging that families have been attacked in the past does not condone it....

And yet people are boycotting Oprah because she WON'T have her on the show.

Sounds like a pretty safe protest for the Palin supporters. Even if Oprah invited her, she wouldn't show up.
