I'm sure this has been asked and answered but the search is down and I so I apologize, but I'm curious about the Pal Mickey thing that you can buy at the parks. How much does it cost (a lot I'm sure) and is it worth it? What exactly does it do? I've heard it will tell you the parade times and tells jokes but I know nothing besides that. Is it a soft stuffed animal or more plastic? Is it heavy/bulky to carry? in a way it seems like it would be more trouble than it is worth, but it certainly has me intrigued. Does it work at all the parks? What kind of batteries? Do they wear out often? Are they hard to find?

We are planning a trip for March with a 10 year old, 8 year old and 3 year old and will probably go to 2 or 3 parks. If we get one, I don't want to be the one lugging it around all day in my back pack so I am wondering what other kids think of them.

Any information would be appreciated!

I just got back from a 4 day Vacation... (Went by way to fast) and bought a Pal Mickey on the first day. ($60- after tax.) You can rent them, but I am not sure of the price.
Was $60 good for him? Well with 3 kids I can say YES! (Not that my kids were able to hold him... The wife would not give him up... Ok, I have to be fair... The dauhter had him for 15 minuites during the trip.

He is a cute stuffed Mickey that giggles and shakes when he has something tosay to you. Sometimes it is a joke, but most of the times he comments on the ride you are near, or makes a comment on the ride you just went on. (POTC was fun with Mickey... the bilge Rat...LOL)
Anyway, he is informative and really did let us know when characters were out and about or when prades were going to start.
All in all We loved him... Hope that helped.

So he isn't a pain to carry around then? I'm just thinking he would either get left somewhere or everyone would get tired of him and he would end up in the back pack. Does he do anything when you are away from the parks? Did you need to replace batteries during your stay?

My wife had him attached to her lanyard, so he was not that hard to carry around. (nor is he that heavy.) He comes with a belt clip and can be removed easily.
As far as batteries go, he is still on the same ones that he came with.
Away from the park he tells corny jokes, and if you are like me you will laugh. He also plays three games, of which I have not had the pleasure of playing, but for the reason see above post and "wife"... LOL

We love our Pal Mickey. We've been home for a month and my daughter still takes him everywhere. He went to the optometrist's office today! Mickey told Dr. Ginsburg many corny jokes.

DH and I went to WDW in Sept. Pal Mickey was one of the best surprises of my trip. BOTH of us fell in love with him. I did not care for the jokes, but he was a great companion and he made our trip that much more special. In fact, the days I didn't have him I felt like I was missing something.

I talk about Pal Mickey in most of my trip reports. If you're curious, check them out in the trip report board.

We rented Pal Mickey for a day at MK. My kids are older and didn't want to purchase him. The cost was $8.00 and he was alot of fun. You can bring him to other parks and I turned him in at night at my hotel. You can keep him for as many days you want for $8.00 a day and just return him when you are done. They charge your credit card and credit the difference when you return him. He was alot of fun and we enjoyed him. My teenagers all wanted to hold him. He is the size of a small stuffed animal. You have to put him upo to your ear sometimes to hear him but can press his tummy for him to repeat if you think the kids would enjoy what he said. When walking down Main street with Pal Mickey to my ear another quest asked me if he was a cell phone. LOL. Enjoy and hold on to him I heard he seems to take alot walks. Gina

Where can you purchase a Pal Mickey?? Can you purchase him before going into a park?? i.e resorts or downtown disney. Also, if you can at a resort, which one?

He is available at all the resorts. You can even buy him at your DS before you leave on vacation. Gina

You can get them at www.giftsofalifetime.com for $75.00. They come fully programmed but can only be returned at the parks. I bought two yesterday. Hopefully they'll be in the mail soon!!

I did a search on google.com for Pal Mickey. THe sites say he is 9 inches tall and weighs one pound.
His sensor is in his nose so the nose has to be visble to use the sensors in the parks. He can be clipped onto your back pack in the front of you so you can hear him better.
I also see that he can be bought for 50 bucks. Is he on sale in the parks for 75.00??

If anyone wants a cheap one, I've seen them on ebay. Kind of weird buying a used stuffed animal, but probably no different from renting.

Pal Mickey is $60 at WDW but I bought him on ebay for $50 and he was new in his box! It is always a risk to buy on ebay though!

My travel group consists of 3 adult ladies and we all love our pal mickey. 2 of us carried a backpack for those times we just wanted a break from carrying him. My Mom didn't use a lanyard or the belt clip, with the weather being chilly and she wears a fanny pack she had Mickey tucked into her buttoned up coat with his head sticking out. When she tired of that she put him in her backpack.

I used a lanyard which would rub my neck a bit much. I'd also sling the lanyard like a purse and he was fine both ways and again i had a backpack for him incase of rain and when I tired of carrying him. Oh and with my backpack I had a ring on the strapes so I was able to also clip him there.

My Mickey has a Tigger clip (i think they are actually called jump rings?) that I strung my lanyard thru. My lanyard is on of those with the velcro at the ends and both ends have loops so I strung the loops thru the jump ring/clip thingy. So I was able to clip him to the rings on my backpack and I also have a jump ring on the front of my bag where I can hang a hat or Mickey :-) Though next year I'm moving down a size in the bag cause mine was proving to be heavy though it did hold a sweater which was nice due to the chilly nights.

I worried about the battiers and I have to say they held thru the entire trip. I did back 2 sets of extra (6 total) but never used them.

He's a wonderful little guy and we 3 ladies can't wait to return with him.

Also one of our 3 was purchased thru Gifts of a Lifetime and I highly recommend them as it was a birthday gift and they did get it to us record time. The other 2 were purchased by a friend who went last year and shipped them home for us.

They are everywhere on property though I didn't think they were available at the DS's but maybe they were at the one in the airport in Orlando. didn't pay attention there as we were flying home.

Have fun on your upcoming trip!!!!
